This is honestly the best ive seen him play since a long time, maybe the best Since wimbledon
I don't think I'm ready to say he's playing as well as that yet but this is definitely a step up from the last match. With that said, he's had help from Korda who's made so many errors. Alcaraz has played well though.

Last time i saw him with that level of confidence maybe last US open, he was playing great there, med just surprised him and played amazing, but the movement and the consistent Great shots... I hadnt seen that since a long time, definetly not this year, and i watch all of his matches, now lets see if he can keep doing It, Lots of matches left

Just use Hawkeye next year FFS. Usual nonsense with line calls, extra work for the umpire, etc. These stupid little cameras on the umpire's head add nothing to the experience, they clearly don't know how to position themselves to provide a clear TV view

They tried to add something, and they failed

Big advantage though for him as Shelton/FAA will have to play tomorrow, and thus face him on no rest.

Yeah i mentioned that a bit earlier too, definitely a clear advantage. FAA could maybe threaten for a bit, but unlikely. Tsitsipas in QF should be a laugher, very one sided record and good hitting practice for the challenges ahead. On record alone he SHOULD in theory make the semis...

#3 seeding kind of helpful here - Zverev would have been a major concern before the Final. Either Sinner or Djoko would have been unavoidable - Sinncaraz SF could be a match for the ages if it materialises

Tsitsipas is back to his peak form this time

All ATP tournaments will switch to hawkeye next year, I think the other 3 slams too. I can’t imagine that RG will remain the only tournament with line judges.

The Sinner match at IW comes close but, yeah, Alcaraz is rounding into form and he' need it because it's a really tough draw.
i dont really think his level that match was that high, it was a combination of good tactics and sinner being a little burned, he played good, but this quality of shot and movement... that feeling that playing like that he is unstopable, i didnt have it since last year, but yeah he really needs it, nothing less will get him the titles

I think he beats both. Tsitsipas might be a tough test, but Carlos is the better dirt player than Sinner. They're both undercooked because of injury, but Alcaraz is fitter and has much more variety. I'm thinking a Carlos-Novak final.
Zeverev will beat novak this time. likely zeverev vs alcarez final, with zeverev coming up short again............. :-D

@messiahrobins Sebi is clearly the inferior player to Carlos in every area except serve. He's also choked against many lesser players. Obviously Carlos could get injured or come out flat, but that's unlikely. Alcaraz has variety and is by far the better clay player.

Carlos is the big favorite, so relax. :)
I enjoyed tonight. Been nervous all day. Now i am very happy and thanks for your insight, you bang on.

It amazes me that you have people hating Carlos here. It's beyond crazy, he's one of the most charismatic and likeable players ever. And he's an incredible talent, so fun to watch.
McEnroe on Eurosport said Alcaraz is greater than the Big 3 at the same age and i agree. his level now at his best is arguably as good as anyone we have seen in the game albeit at the moment the consistency isnt there, but he is 20!! If he isnt even at his best yet, god help the tour.

Tsitsipas will get roasted by Alcaraz because his BH is simply not good enough and over a best of 5 set match Carlos will exploit it.
Alcaraz v Sinner will be off the chains but id go with Alcaraz for the reasons you say.
Djokovic i think needs the draw to open up for him as if he has Ruud to play before Zverev or Rune i think he will be cooked eventually especially as the weather will be hotter next week. I'm gonna be a bit left field and go for a Rune v Alcaraz final!!

I feel some people have been pretty harsh on Alcaraz of late. He missed three clay events and barely had any match play coming into RG so he was bound to be rusty and tentative. Add the arm injury to the mix and there were understandably doubts in his mind, so he was going to need a few rounds to find some form and confidence as long as he stayed healthy.
We saw that today; his confidence suddenly started to show and he relaxed. Judging by what he said afterwards it’s been some time since he felt that way. Interesting that Alex Corretja asked him if he had changed his serve as he had noticed a difference and Carlos admitted that he had; namely in asjusting the position of his feet and something to do with the ball toss, although he was not too forthcoming on detail. His serve tonight was much more accurate and consistent than I’ve seen for ages; 89% in the second set and 78% for the match which is a big improvement.
Suddenly the drop shots were back in earnest; they’d been pretty rare in the earlier rounds, and his forehand was firing again. Korda played well and it was very clear that the quality of the match made Carlos feel even better about the result.
Good to see! Hopefully his forearm is not going to be a concern going forward and he can play uninhibited at last.

I can imagine it, it's the French :)

they like to be unique

every slam did come together over final set tiebreaks though so maybe they can be wore down

what is thsi conspiriacy ?? alcarez has to beat Tsitsipas and Sinner just get to the final ?????????????
Sinner's not even a contender, his only clay title is 2022 Umag, and even Sinner's AO title was lucky with Medvedev playing 6 more hours and giving away a 2-sets-to-love lead when his forehand dropped 10km in the 3rd Set.
And Tsitsipas just resumed dating the Spanish woman, so his form is about to end.

It took 4 days for you to resurrect from the dead
4 days? I was posting within an hour of Nadal's loss-

wow,, stepanoe and bardosa are back together ?? wow,, true love i guess

Man, had to miss this one. Probably my two favorite players to watch currently on tour. I wish Korda had even an ounce of champion’s mentality in him. Such a lovely ball-striker and all-courter. He’s not any less an athlete or ball-striker than, say, Tomas Berdych, but he just doesn’t have it in between the ears. Needs to hook up with Magnus Norman or something. Glad Carlos seems to be playing himself into form a bit at least. His previous match was quite worrying.

This the look he has in the player's box ... :-D

Alcaraz turned 21 at the beginning of May.
:D

Just brilliant shot making from both of them.

Only issue was Korda never wants to grind in points. Alcaraz was wanting to run side to side and hit those extraordinary shots.

If only Korda was a bit of a grinder, he would have had multiple slams by now. Ball striking is so so clean.

I thought Indian wells was a pretty good tournament for him as usual. Guy is a real problem on slow high bouncing courts that give him enough time to pull out all his magic.
