A point for discussion, how would history have been changed (in terms of results) had these roofs been built earlier, or in the case of Wimbledon, later?

Wimbledon 2008 and 2012 finals had rain... While US Open and RG have also had situations in recent times.

Roland Garros, the home of the French Open, is to undergo a controversial redevelopment which will include a retractable roof over Court Philippe Chatrier.

The work will nearly £300m, Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo has announced.

"Today, the construction permits to extend Roland Garros were signed," Hidalgo told French TV.

The work will see the Roland Garros site expand in size by around 50 per cent – including the conversion of a hectare of botanical gardens, a move that has stirred up protests from conservationists who pledge to appeal the decision in the courts.

The redevelopment includes the fitting of a retractable roof over the main showcourt, Court Philippe Chatrier, where on Sunday Switzerland's Stan Wawrinka defeated Novak Djokovic in a gripping four-set men's final.

Zausner said the stadium, the largest in tennis, will maintain its seating capacity of 23,771, though some seats in the highest rows were removed to accommodate two video boards. Seats were added in lower levels to replace those lost, he said.

Gordon Smith, the executive director of the U.S.T.A., called the completion of the superstructure a major step, but only the most obvious one in a renovation that will cost more than $500 million. Work began during the winter on a new grandstand court in the southwestern part of the tennis center. That stadium, which will seat 8,000, and a neighboring village of concession stands will be completed for the 2016 Open.

Construction on a new 14,000-seat Louis Armstrong Stadium will begin after the 2016 Open and is expected to be finished in time for the 2018 tournament.

“We want nothing less than the vision of this facility being the finest tennis venue in the world and the pre-eminent sports facility in New York City,” Smith said.

OMG. are we opening up that can of worms all over again.

With Fed haters saying Fed would never have won 2012 if they had not closed the roof.
And the same for the FO semifinal which is already being discussed in multiple threads over and over with no one really listening to anyone else.

LOL.

I see no need for Roland Garros having a roof.. they should install some lights though.. seriously, why does Roland Garros have no lights. My local tennis club has lights that stay on till 11 o'clock in the evening..

That way, Djokovic vs Murray could been played the same day and not over two days. Playing a match over the course of more than one day is just not fair, in several ways.

^^Germany doesn't know how to run an empire, that's their problem.

Step 1. Cripple Greek industry
Step 2. Flood Greece with German goods
Step 3. Extend credit to Greece to buy German goods
Step 4. Call the Greeks names when they can't repay

The Germans believed that in the NWO their country was too small to meet any challenges. However, a unified Europe would be better equipped. Well, if you don't know how to manage the peripheries, and the diverse economies you'll just have to take on the NWO on your own - and get swallowed up.

And for the third time in history after meticulous planning and much foresight, this country will taste defeat from a winnable position.
