Okay. I have to admit. This is old news to me. I read it sometime before the Thiem match or so. I shrugged. Then made a tasty U-turn back here, bubble thoughts bubbling all the way.

{ #Epic. No, #MichaelNadal must come first.}

{ #clayqueen+octo+vero =Nadal News 2.0}

{ #Fedfans :eek:. No, #vive must come first.}

{etc etc...}

Only to find there was absolutely nothing. NOTHING.

So I shrugged again, pondering. Come Sunday, if there were still no nothing from those embarrassing so-called Rafa and Fed fans, I would give them an earful of how uninternetted they are.

That was NOT in TTW's spirit. Unacceptable!

Okay. I got it done. Now back to the source of all of my un-epicness. Ladies and gentlemen, may I present to you:

TEN TIME ROLAND GARROS CHAMPION RAFAEL NADAL STATUTE!
nadal_clay_original.jpg

"Great recognizement by Roland Garros towards the nine-time champion Rafael Nadal. In the Eurosport programme "Avantage Leconte", the French tennis federation chief Bernard Giudicelli announced that the tournament will erect a statue in honor of the Mallorcan player, that was described as a "Monster" by Giudicelli. 'He will have a statue at the Roland Garros, you cannot do anything but immortalize him.' At the Roland Garros there are already statues in honor of Suzanne Lenglen and the four Musketeers, it means Jean Borotra, Jacques Brugnon, Henri Cochet and René Lacoste.

They will need one for Chris Evert as well.

Any time they do things like this , plan for the future. There may be someone in the future who wins 15 FO.

You posted a picture of the statue Nike made in 2014 to celebrate Rafa's 9th French Open title.

Where's Andy's statue? He's got the same number of Madrid titles as Novak! :mad:

;)

:p That was almost 10 yrs ago. Notice how "hairy" Rafa was LOL. Andy was nowhere near winning Madrid which was indoor hardcourt back then and didn't qualify the Masters Cup that year. Those 3 statues of the top 3 were sent to Madrid just for ATP to show off before MC. There were statutes for all other qualifiers as well:

French owe it to Nadal after the doping accusations. Who is Philippe Chatrier anyway and how would he have done in a 5 set match against the King of Clay?

Stallone wanted the "Rocky" statue placed outside the city's art museum, evoking the famous scene from the movie; Philadelphia said, uh, no, we'll put it outside the basketball/hockey arena.

But Andy won his first Madrid title back in 2008 (when it was still hardcourt) so he should be there, no excuses. He's not even in the pic!!

I'm all for a statue of Nadal but I really hope they use a pose that's mid groundstroke or serve rather than of him gesticulating after a point.

For example, this

This

And especially this

Are so, so much cooler to look at than this

If I saw a statue of the above image and I had no idea who Nadal was, I'd roll my eyes.
