Rumours are that the statue will look like this:

The statue will be facing backwards at the entrance of the tournament grounds.
How about statue of Federer at Wimbledon

Whatever they're replacing the Bullring with, they should name that after him. I'm sure he'll be retired by the time it gets completed, so why not?
They won't replace a Frenchman, Philippe Chatrier, with a Spaniard. Still, naming the 3rd largest court Rafael Nadal would be great seeing they'll already have his statue at PC.

People may argue over the buttpicking vs fistpumps showing humble watches, chairs vs bananas or bandaged knees vs bumping at doors.

Those are all worthy elements of such statue.

Two things are mandatory though: that the statue is made of solid gold and that it is a composition of two.... the other being of Carlos Bernardes.

Andy was ranked in the top 10 for much of 2007 and yet he doesn't even appear in the picture! We have the likes of Davydenko, Ferrer and Gasquet all strutting their stuff though.

Ordered by Madrid though presumably? o_O

I am relaxed. I'm just playing the part of the aggrieved fan! ;)
You can rest assured that Andy's statue will be at Wimbledon one day. I'm sure they are waiting until he retires but Rafa's statue at RG might hasten it if Andy hasn't retired by then.

This thread has a bit of value only because the choices of the poll. Besides that, has the same significance as Nadal hard court titles from 2014

That'll be Murray. It's only a matter of time before Murray's statue is erected at Wimbledon. Maybe the Australians will find an excuse to have one of Fed.

It will most likely be a bust like Wade's (see above) but not until after he retires. Although they haven't yet honoured any foreign players this way it's possible they will make an exception at some point for Federer given his unsurpassed record at the All England Club.

To date, the only complete statue of a former player is that of Fred Perry (3 time champion in the 1930s) but that wasn't erected until after his death:

Fred Perrys ashes are under that statue. He wanted to be burried at AELTC. Thats dedication ;)

Is Rafa first player having a statue in RG? Already decided when he is alive shows what a clay God he is.

Also a wonderful gesture of forgiveness and reconciliation considering the bad blood that had existed for years between the AELTC and Perry!

He would be the first foreign player to be so honoured. There are already statues of former French greats at Roland Garros of course eg:

The slams name their courts and build statues in honour of national greats as has been the historical custom. Neither Nadal or Federer should ever have a slam show court in America, the UK, France, or Oz named after them, ditto for building a statue in their likeness.
