I nominate the squatting part of this one in still form:

;)

In all seriousness, add another vote for the buggy whip FH. That's his signature.

And yes it should be after he retires. It should be that way for everybody IMO.

Depending on the context, I can imagine a great deal of Le Resistance from the french public to a Nadal commemoration.

I hope it happens. The man deserves it. There will be a generation of french people who will not have the same dislike for him as a lot of french people do currently, and this statue will fuel their imagination of him and showcase his achievements at that tournament.

What Le Resistance?

Yep, it's your imagination. ;) You may confuse the French public with the TTW "public".

Also by French you mean the RG crowd? Rafa said he had some problems with the crowd at RG only. Else where in France, in Paris itself, he only feels people's love for him (his words). Don't think he's not truthful.

Why not 2 Fred's? 2 are always better than 1.
Well, dont ask me. But it hasnt been any talk about Fed having a statue there. There is something about him in the Museum at the venue.
Fred Perry was like a superstar of his time, bigger than the tennis players are now.

Don't you worry.

If such a thing come to pass the french will find a way to express their opinion of the Nadal in some subtle way or another (imagine VLBJ creating the statue, you get what I am saying).

It will be there for as long as the tournament is what it is too!

The French people love Rafa it's the Fedfans in the crowd who shout the loudest. The statue is going to happen. The decision has been taken, Rafa has been told and he is having a say in the design.

Lol at the bolded.

Luckily a plank of wood has nothing on the bull, so if he personally approves fat chance the finer points will remain.

Not to speak of the fact that context in which the statue is put can make the finer points.

Some people behaved like hooligans at Roland Garros only in 2009. French public shouldn't be confused with hooligan-Fedfans.

Rafa was voted the most popular foreign athlete in France in May 2014.
The survey was conducted among 1000 persons 15+ years old between May 19 and 24, 2014 by Uniteamsport (a marketing agency in France)

I wonder if you are the leading producer of it in your country of origin or there is some competition ?

@Mainad, what about you?
Some people just can't hide their jealousy of the Great Rafael Nadal.
this touching moment when 2 half-brains separated at birth get back together after stepping in the same dog poop...

Murray has 3 grand slams. He does not belong in the conversation and will only be a footnote to the Big 3 when history looks back on this era.

Well, I'm glad you sorted out that question to your own satisfaction but the fact remains that Murray has as many titles in Madrid as Djokovic so is entitled to have a statue there alongside him (in my own humble opinion).

You shouldn't hope that your comrades will be commissioned to create the statue.
The person you mentioned admitted that his production belongs here:
