I’ll go with Sinner in two
To be honest, I could see either guy winning in either two or three. Sinner looked pretty vulnerable today in the first and even the third set. Alcaraz has been up and down this week but more (from what I’ve seen) on a point-by-point level, rather than playing flat for an entire set and then having to recover. And he tends to raise his level against Jannik. Though Sinner was on song prior to the semi, so who knows. I think it all kind of cancels out.

This is a day match, right? If so, I think conditions help tilt things Alcaraz’s direction, if only slightly.

Well if Sinner loses, I think he wins RG. If he wins, he probably loses RG

Alcaraz would have to summon his 2022 clay form. Cause his 2025 form just isn’t good enough at the moment . And sinner is better now on clay than he was last year when they met at RG
If I guess if there is a chance to get sinner though it’s on clay. But off clay I don’t think so anymore.
Well not exactly, dude. In 2022, he lost to Korda & Maroszan of all people in R32 of both MC & Rome masters.

I’m going with Sin in 2. Thought about it deeply
Could be, he is in a better form & can run Carlos ragged if he gets the crowd behind him & establish early leads in both sets. Let's say he goes up a break to open sets, holds tough the next game, saving BPs, Alca may end up spraying too much and gifting the next or another service game of his, and boom that's game over.

My only problem for Sinner, he has not played much in the day, and that could really hurt him if it gets boiling hot.

Otherwise, yes, he has been the steadier player and the stats show it.

I'd want day conditions too, because it favours Alcaraz xD.

But yeah, slow and steady wins the race here (although Sinner is anything but slow)

If they really want their homebody to win, it would have to be at night. But I have a feeling it’s in the boiling heat. The time has not yet been announced, but historically it has been played in the day

So far at Rome:

Sinner
5-0
64.7% Service points won
50.0% return points won
DR 1.42

Alcaraz
5-0
61.5% service points won
45.0% return points won
DR 1.17

Sinner has definitely been more consistent. But this Alcaraz fellow plays Sinner tough. But I cannot ignore the stats. I’m still sticking with Sinner in 3 tight sets. Sinner will win 6-2, 5-7, 7-6 in a barn-burner.

Who’s competition was harder?

Sinner had:
1. Ruud - Madrid Champion
2. Cerundolo - most matches on clay

Alcaraz had:
1. Draper - Madrid finalist
2. Musetti - MC finalist and Madrid SFist

I’d say the competition was a push. Sinner also had Paul. But Carlos had Khatch.

Carlos will disrupt Sinner’s rhythm. Sinner will need to go big early in rallies in order to win. Alcaraz will need to serve well to win.

I can’t wait for this match.

It should be in the day yes, like it's always been.

Finally the final we have been eagerly waiting for. Both players are on fire , Sinner will be the red hot favourite but Carlos will not be an easy opponent by any means. I urge all Sinner fans to respect Carlos , putting him down doesn’t speak well for Sinner’s competition.

Come on man, don't believe in such jinxes lol. Jannik would get a lot of confidence if he wins, which is a good thing for his chances at RG.

@Rafa4LifeEver believe it or not, I actually want Sinner to lose. I think if he wins here, he’s going to lose RG and vice versa. But let’s see

Same here, Rome winners have been losing RG lately so i don’t want Sinner to win this. He might get complacent.

2020 - Djokovic won Rome. Lost in RG F
2021 - Nadal won Rome. Lost RG SF
2022- Djokovic won Rome. Lost in RG QF
2023 - Medvedev won Rome. Lost in RG
2024 - Zverev won Rome. Lost in RG F

Yup, not a good look

nadal won rome in 21

@alexio so basically if Sinner has aspirations of winning RG, he’s should lose Rome. But knowing him, he’s probably going to win and lose RG
yea, from historical standpoint better to lose for him here in order to have more chances at rg, although muster did it back then, why he cant do it too, so its kinda a double-edged sword a bit haha

Now it’s time to predict winner and I’ll go with Carlos , he can happily win it and get gassed for RG after a long clay season and then rested and well massaged Sinner can smoke his way to RG titles @dking68 ill be cheering against Sinner today

I am happy to see how you started seeing the light and now acknowledge the beast Sinner has become now, we have been telling you for ages.

I’m still leaning alcaraz slightly. It on clay and it will be played in day time where he stronger and his last couple matches been played then. Alcaraz also has won the recent battles between the two.

Sinner has the form, consistency and game to win but he has to solve the alcaraz puzzle. Alcaraz is very tough to beat in big finals and I think he might just edge it again. This is a huge match though just before RG. Sinner needs it to prove he can beat alcaraz again and alcaraz needs it to still look like the main favourite on clay and for RG.

It should be a cracker. It can go either way but going Carlos in 3.

Alca in 3 for me.
There will be ups and there will be downs:)

I reckon Alca will jerk Sinner's slight injury about with dropshots.
(Did we see Paul play one dropshot yesterday?)

I don't mind who wins.
Want a good match and none of this harping on that past players were better.
Please post that carp in the former proplayer area.
