Don't forget 20 titles in 20 cities. That's got to be a first.
You could be right but just need that to be confirmed somewhere.

I heard he was unwell in Rome. I hope he’s fully fit for RG, which is more important
That's the biggest thing for me - that all his tourney wins are unique; he's never repeated. You rarely see a player winning 20 tournaments and doing that.Don't forget 20 titles in 20 cities. That's got to be a first.
YesSo if I understand correctly, we could now get Rats, Rooney and Djoke all on the same side... right?
What's the shame in losing to a former world #1, US Open Champion, and multi Masters champion like Medvedev?Rune looks gutted
I agree on the first part! What's the shame in losing to a former world #1, US Open Champion, and multi Masters champion like Medvedev?
Did people really think Medvedev couldn't figure out clay?
Nice summary!Rome 2023 had the last laugh, it seems, turning anticipated outcomes on their heads. First Alcaraz, the new world number 1 was sent home by the spectacular Marozsan, ranked outside the top 100. Then, one of rising next gen stars and home favourite- Sinner, was shown the door by the superb Cerundolo. As if to prove that it was not just these bright young things that got a spanking, Djokovic, one of the greatest players to ever play the sport, was humbled by the sizzling Rune.
With the established clay court credentials of Ruud and Tsitsipas who reached the SF's, it seemed that one of these 2 would lift the trophy, but no. Rome had other ideas.
Bravo, Medvedev, for lifting the trophy in what was a relatively routine straight sets win over Rune, having similarly made short work of Tsitsipas in the SF. A ‘non-clay specialist’ is the last man standing in an excellent field. He is also the new world number 2. I bet he loves clay now! My respect for his steady, grounded approach and work ethic grows. Having won 5 titles this year, he seems to be enjoying his tennis, making him a sound contender for yet more titles.
Rune could not overcome the final hurdle after his fabulous win over Djokovic, and excellent resurrection in the SF against Ruud. He should nevertheless be proud of his run in Rome, and remain focused on converting his chances into titles. As he will no doubt be aware, 'almost' isn’t good enough.
Onwards to Roland Garros.
I hope he continues this and ends his carreer after winning each title exactly once - it would fit his character so wellDon't forget 20 titles in 20 cities. That's got to be a first.
And Tsits as well if the top half of the draw falls really awkward. So if I understand correctly, we could now get Rats, Rooney and Djoke all on the same side... right?
That would be wild. Something like 40 titles - all unique. It would be funny in his later years if he stopped going to places he's already won believing he can't overcome the one-and-done curse.I hope he continues this and ends his carreer after winning each title exactly once - it would fit his character so well![]()
It was always mental for Med on clay. It helps that he's got this new spinny FH, but it's this attitude change that's seen him lift the Rome Masters cup. What's the shame in losing to a former world #1, US Open Champion, and multi Masters champion like Medvedev?

Haha meddy is awesome. What a troll! Lol
Thanks for your correction, duly noted. I saw the interview live - my comment was my take on how he must be feeling, rather than what he said. Perhaps I should have said 'likes clay better!'Nice summary!
Except for one wrong thing, namely Medvedev loving clay now
