Vika 3-0 down in the seconds set, so is she having problems with the supposed elbow injury?

Edit: Spoke too soon.

Vika just doesn't have the body to play 9 months/year on a high level. It's too bad because she was playing well right now but I was waiting for something like this to happen (again).

SF:
Wozniacki - Sharapova
Stosur - Li

I think Stosur beats Li. In final she'll be underdog against Sharapova (0-7 H2H) and slight favorite against Caro.
Neither Caro or Sharapova are natural clay players but Caro should have a mental edge.

9 retirements in 14 months? Vika needs a full-time trainer and to have her diet overhauled. I love Vika, but this is disgraceful for someone ranked #4.

Li has surprisingly become an all-surface player with decent results on clay and grass. Li has a better backhand than Stosur and has better movement.
Woz should beat the "Cow on Ice." Sharapova makes way too many mistakes which only makes it easier for Woz to moonball her way to victory.

Vika is the undisputed retirement queen. Until she toughens up, she's not winning any slams.

Good, I hope she does not win any. Seriously, what kind of headcase is she?
I could not believe it when I checked the scores today that she retired yet again. It is revolting. What other profession can you do this in--i.e. retire every few weeks? If she can't get it together she needs to pick a new profession.

I think Maria could win this thing, if she beats woz

Masha once described herself after winning a match on clay as a cow on ice so.....

Sam up a double break, the commentator classified her as the Rafa Nadal of women's tennis on clay

Lina showed both why she can beat anyone on a good day and why she can't do it consistently. She plays high percentage tennis. When it's on, wow! When it's off, yuck! And though she's 29 yo she still gets frustrated as easily as a teenager.
Sam played well until set 1 got close, then her mental frailty showed up again and her game tightened up. Lucky for her Lina handed her the TB. Set 2 wasn't much fun to watch but that wasn't Sam's fault.

Interesting who her opponent will be in the final. She's 0-7 against Sharapova but they've never met on clay which is Sam's best surface and Maria's worst. Sam's 3-2 against Caro but lost their only match on (green) clay.

Congrats to Maria, she played really well today. The win wasn't a huge surprise, red clay never will suit Caro's game very well. I think she'll still beat Maria on HC.

Interesting final tomorrow. If Maria serves, returns and strikes both FH and BH like she did today I think she'll win. Maria's tall and strong enough to neutralize Sam's kick serve and I expect she'll hammer Sams BH so hard she won't have time to go around it to hit her FH.

Is it raining today over there?
Half an hour late.

They are showing it on sportsnet.ca, TV, women's then men's and are in a rain delay. Showers off and on all day. mens's will also be shown on sportsnet Ontaio at 7 pm today, as well as live this morning....if it stops raining.

Damn, Stosur is getting blown off the tennis court right. I was pretty confident that Stosur would cruise through this match.

Why? Sharapova is 7-0 against Stosur. If it had not rained, Stosur's serve would be more effective. But other than the serve, what does Stosur do as well or better than Sharapova?

I wasn't aware of their head to head record. My prediction was more or less based on Sharapova not being strong on clay, and Stosur having a better tract record on this surface, plus the form they've shown in the tournament. Stosur has looked better IMHO (more dominating performances in this tourney) but clearly I was wrong. ;-)
