Roof on Ashe Stadium for Islanders?

Ok, thanks. Hmm I think it would be ok to put a roof on, anything to stop rain delays is a plus. But admittedly, I haven't read the whole article.

Ridiculous for so many reasons.

Put aside the roof issue, which in my view is a terrible one. The idea of Queens politicos weighing in on "losing the Islanders" . WHAT? It's a Nassau County team. There's never been any impact to Queens.

The USTA National TENNIS Center. See that word in the middle. TENNIS CENTER. It's a -- let me make sure we're all clear on this -- PUBLIC TENNIS CENTER. For all but a few weeks a year when the USO is there. The USTA was leased the land for very specific purposes.

Whatever jackass wrote that article is mistaken if he thinks the USTA is in a position to lease the USTA Tennis Center to the Islanders. I don't have to read the agreement with the city to know that won't fly.

The idea of having the Islanders play there is even dumber than Bloombergs idea of building a a football stadium on the West Side of Manhattan. No doubt Bloomberg would try to redo the lease with the USTA if he could rename Ashe to Bloomberg Stadium.

Turning Ashe into a hockey stadium would be the end of the tennis center.

This will not happen.
