I used to be able to attack and agressively return serves with my two hander. But now I have a one hander and I have to bunt everything deep. How can I agressively return serves? The grip change is too slow so i chip with a conti grip.

Grip change is waaaaay faster than your takeback, which is the limiting factor for 1hbh topspin ROS.
Switch to full ebh and slice an aggressive return.

So I should return far back while switching to my normal fh or bh grip and hit it with a smaller takeback?

You can hit a Lendl drive with no windscreen wipe with a conti grip, (better for faster serves) but you have to slice if it comes to your fh or learn how to drive a conti fh, which can initially negatively interfere with the technique of your bread and butter fh. (Be it E or SW) Another option is to return with an eastern fh grip and learn how to hit the ball downward with that grip on the bh side, it's like a downward sweeping action, almost like a flat slice.

There should be no real take back on the ROS. make sure your body weight is moving into the court and your contact point is far in front of you and roll your wrist/supinate your arm(however you prefer to create spin). A lot of us 1 handlers get caught late and jammed. And have to hit this weird bent elbow bunt. Hope this helps

why would the 1hbh topspin takeback be slower than a 2hbh takeback?

I think it's more that you don't need to take the racquet back as far to hit an effective double hander, given where your non dominant hand is positioned. So I would tend to agree with you that it isn't necessarily, but I can see where LeeD is coming from.

Apart from moving back and letting the ball drop as some have mentioned as a possible solution esp to kick serves. (Which has its disadvantages as far as getting your racquet on the ball in the first place and subsequently covering your opponents next shot goes - granted taking the high bouncing serve on the rise can put you in NML) I would suggest if you are going to return from up in the court, stop, if you haven't already trying to put topspin (or slice for that matter) on the return of shoulder height and higher balls. Hit them cleanly with a little fade if necessary, if not necessary hit them as close to dead flat as you can. Pull the ball down rather than trying to lift it. You don't put topspin on a high backhand volley (apart from rare situations) so why change that approach just because the ball's bounced? Also just hone the timing of ripping balls without pace ( if you are going to hit topspin in reply to the high ball), ripping up the back of a loopy (especially on the rise) with no pace requires precise timing. I find keeping the racquet head cocked up as much as possible and keeping your non dominant hand on the throat until it passes your back hip in the forward swing (ala Thiem) assist with a clean strike. You can't be confident in attacking spin bowling in a match if you only practice blocking it in the nets.

Dont change grips. All I can say is that even I can return serves aggressively with the 1 hander. Here is the cheat code:

You don’t have to return serve, if you hit a one-hander. By using one hand instead of two, you’ve already won. It is like showing up to a party in 1990 with Cindy Crawford on your arm. It doesn’t matter if you can’t satisfy her or if she is dating you out of pity, YOU are the man! Hit every ROS straight into the ground. No one cares. All 2hbh players still look up to you. YOU are the king of the court!

Makes me wonder why you switched to a 1HB if you were having more success with a 2HB. In any case there must be a reason.

In any case there's nothing in the rules that say you can't use a 2HB for your return and a 1HBH during the rally.
