round polys that are not springy or lively

If people use the words 'springy', or 'lively', or 'powerful' to describe the poly, I've figured out that I probably won't like it. And I have to admit that I love a lot of the new shaped polys, but the feel just doesn't last long enough for me.

For me, these go into the too springy/lively/powerful category:
Volkl Cyclone 16, 17
Volkl V-Torque 16
Solinco Outlast 16
Tourna BHBR 16
Tourna BHSR 16
Tecnifibre Pro Red Code 16
Prince Beast 16

Loses characteristics too fast:
Tourna BHB7 16
Kirschbaum Spiky Black Shark 16

So what's left then? What are your top 3 polys that aren't springy/lively/powerful that also maintain their playing characteristics? Crisp is a word I like to see in a review, and <$12 a set is an added bonus.

Here are my top 3:
SPPP 16L, 17 (similar to Scorpion but more crisp)
Scorpion 16 (I didn't like the 16L near as much)
Tour Bite 16

Yonex Poly Tour Pro is my favorite by far.

Second (but string of choice for my 16x15 frame) is Pro's Pro Intense Heat

Neither string are powerful, but they have a nice feel.......hot too harsh on the arm but not spring-board like at all. I am at about 15 hours on a string job of Intense Heat, which is impressive for my 105s as it chews up string and spits them out. This string snaps back into place and gives me good topspin.

Hard for myself to imagine anyone thinking any poly is too springy, but that's just me.

I didn't find Outlast or Red Code springy at all?
Also, I think Scorpion is a pretty lively poly. Same with SPPP.
I think Tour Bite is your ticket or most of the Lux offerings.

Yeah, everybody is different I guess. Tons of people love Cyclone, but for me it is too springy and unpredictable.

I would agree Scorpion and SPPP are somewhat lively, but not springy... which makes them ok in my book. :) Outlast and Red Code aren't necessarily springy to me, but they are just WAY too lively.

A big plus to yonex ptp!!

Try Mantis Poly Comfort.
It is literally BBO copy with comfort.. and hold tension better.. and yes - cheaper. BBO is superb during the first 5-7h of hitting. Then be ready to hear some complains from your shoulder :)

It also loses tension faster then most^^

I thought the tension management was tolerable with BBO. I did use it in an 18X20 which to me extends the usability of poly for me. I could get two to three weeks out of it before it broke or became harsh.

Thanks for the feedback! I just ordered the following, and I'm putting Tour Bite in tonight... so look for reviews soon.

Genesis Typhoon 16L
Cyber Flash 16
Yonex Poly Tour Pro 16L

My wallet just wouldn't let me pull the trigger on the Lux. :)

I found polyfibre Viper to fit this category. Maybe I'm an outlier, bu none of the words you mentioned spring to mind when I think of Viper.

I think those are good choices. I'm surprised you found Cyclone too hot. I had the opposite reaction.

BBO would suit you but it is pricey and goes off the cliff when it dies.

TB is not a round poly, but it is a great combination of spin, control and some pop.

I wouldn't say that Cyclone was too hot. I honestly don't know why I don't like it. I think what bugged me about it was that it turned into a totally different string after a few hours of hitting. And it seemed to have a very non-linear response based on where the ball hit on the string bed.

I get it. The string actually felt great to me, but I just didn't like the ball I hit with it, plus like you say, outside the power zone, forget it.

Tour Bite and Scorpion feel "lively" to me...

Some fairly "dead" feeling polys:

Pro Line X - really good and also really cheap
Pro Hurricane Tour
