RPM Blast (16) vs Solinco Tour Bite (16)

Planning on trying the RPM blast on my Pure Drive Roddick.

I normally string my racquets up with Solinco tour bite OR Luxilon original. Thinking of trying the RPM blast now though..What do you guys think about the RPM blast compared to the Tour Bite? Is it a better string in your opinion?

Thanks!

I think Tour Bite is better IMO. I like strings that are textured and with Tour Bite you really feel the strings grip the balls and literally shave the fur off of the ball. RPM feels more comfortable but you don't get that bite compared to Tour Bite.

Power: RPM.
Spin/Control: TB.
Stiffness: About the same. TB feels stiff strung too high. RPM doesn't, but don't worry your arm is going to feel the stiffness of that string.
Cost: TB.
Depends of the spin potential you want. Hard to find something that spins more than TB. Even if RPM is more than decent in this category.

Blast is great in the PDR. TB is pretty good as well. The main difference for me is Blast feels a little better and has a bit more pop. Not sure which one spins the most.

Blast costs 50% more, and as great as it is, I'm not sure I could justify the cost. If you are a high level player, you may find that TB lacks a bit of penetration, and as a result, Blast is worth the extra.

OP: try Tourna Big Hitter Black 7 if you like the feel of both of those strings. Its similar, MUCH softer and significantly less expensive.

I think people so far are spot on. Tour bite has more spin potential and you can feel the strings grabbing the ball better than RPM Blast. I also feel that RPM goes dead a little faster. If you want more free power than RPM is a good option but for a better price range and more spin/control Tour Bite is a better choice in my opinion

Agree with all the above. The drop off in performance in RPM vs TB is the biggest factor why TB was the better string for me. TB starts stiff and then settles down nicely. RPM plays fantastic fresh but feels dead after an hour or two.

Both have a ton of spin, I prefer the interaction with the ball on RPM tho. TB feels like it actually bites into the ball, while RPM seems more springy/recoil and more consistent feel off the strings (before it dies).

Other strings I'd recommend would be Alu Rough, kind of in between these two in terms of stiffness but the feel off the strings is consistent for much longer period of time than RPM, before it dies / breaks (not very often).

Forgot to mention:
If you string your own frames, TB is more of a pain to string, its sharp and stiff on the weaves. And RPM can be a pain too if you get it in sets vs reel. It has so much memory to it, as soon as you open the set, it jumps out at you, tangles, and looks like a tumbleweed.

RPM to me feels like it has a quicker more violent snap back, TB feels like it grabs the ball more. With RPM I can produce more googly crazy spin, TB I feel produces a tighter more controlled spin. On serve I tend to prefer TB, groundies RPM. TB plays more predictably throughout its life, where RPM has more ups and downs. I produce amazing shots with RPM but I don't always feel in control, I feel like I'm along for the ride.

As far as I know, I liked Tour Bite better. I'm actually thinking of returning to it since I still have two packs laying around.
