RPM blast rough

Hi all,

Just purchased a Pure strike and was thinking about trying the babolat RPM blast rough. I am planning on stringing it at 52, does that sound about right?

Well does not sound right for me and no clue for you. & am not you...
I recently lost my ability to read minds and understand how other plays and there level.
Tension is pure personal preference and with a change in strings can be a trial and error process.
The more info you provide, the better the suggestions will be.
What string are your coming from?
What tension did you use?
What are your goals with the this new blast rpm rough strings?
Is the Pure Stike a 16 x 19 or a 18 x 20?
What is the gauge?
Do you have a good stringer you can talk to?

52 may work and depending on all of the above questions..
I think it maybe a great place to start....but you are the owner of that...

good luck and let us know on your results...

Your absolutely correct I did leave a little vague.

I was hitting with a prince warrior 100 using the Beast attach hybrid strung at 56. Coming back from a 5 yr break(4.0 player) and tried the Pure strike 16x19 (and a few others)and loved it. I haven't hit with poly for a very long time but that is what the demo racquet had. I was thinking about the RPM rough16 gauge for a little more spin strung at 52.

Thanks for any advise and hope this is enough to get going.

YES, That is right. 50- 52 lbs is right tension. Any tension above that for some reason ,, it doesn't pocket the ball and just becomes piece of useless plastic. but 50 lbs or below, it is very nice with control and Power combo. and feel improves great deal as well

My son demo'd the PS98 with RPM Blast @ 53. Was a bit down on power. But control was good for volleys and BH. FH kept dumping into the net or come over the net weakly. We bought the racquet and strung with HyperG 18 @ 49/48 and plays better for him with more spin and a touch more power. But still retains a lot of touch for finesse shots.

RPMB on PS17 16M is bad, cut it after the first session. BUT, on PS97S 48 it is very comfortable and powerful.

I would recommend what Traffic above did. Both of mine play with a nice combination of power, control and touch in the 48-50lbs range if its the 16x19. A couple pounds looser if it is the 18x20. Start from there and adjust depending on how you feel. Best of luck.

50lbs to 52lbs seems good....its a 98 square inch head so if you are coming from a hundred sq inch head size (textreme warrior), I would recommend dropping a few pounds in tension..so your estimation is good...

Play Tested this for TW and Bab. The above info is great. I had two sets... strung the 1st one too high. The second set I string under 50 and it was much better. If you string this stuff over 55.. it is not a decent string.. 50 and below at it seems to come alive. You string this at 60.. I am guessing not the best

Agree !!!

RPM Blast rough is very lively and has huge spin and power. It is almost not very much like RPM blast. I'd say anything above 53 you would kill its characteristics, while below 53 you would enhance them. Between 48-51 is the sweetspot for this string

Thanks everyone for the responses. I have access to a machine so I'm going to try a few to find the ones I like.

I'm going to start with the RPM Blast rough strung at 50.
the Hyper G at 49 and was told to try the Wilson poly (not sure the name) spin maybe at 50. If there are any other polys I should try please let me know.

great start!!

I’m about to try this string today with 49lb ps16x19 fingers crossed. Never tried rough before. Only even played normal co poly

Rough is very nice soft poly. Very powerful and spin friendly. Only knock on it is feel. it feel bit like paper or plastic. and you have what is called detached feel. I think it is a great poly if you have arm issues and need soft poly. but for me I prefer the reglar RPM blast

I don’t mind the detached feel. I currently use the regular rpm blast 17G, but I think the tension is too high. I’ve got it on 54lbs on my rf97

I honestly hated the feel of the Blast Rough. As mentioned above, it felt like the string was made of paper. That said, it played and felt great in the Textreme Tour 95. The softness of the frame reduced the bad feel of the string, and the control was really awesome. I’m not sure if the Blast Rough is the best choice for the Pure Strike, though. Maybe the regular RPM Blast might be a better option.

Agree. but Dominick Thiem seem to like the rough better.
