RPM Team - where have you been!

I have recently discovered RPM Team and am quite smitten by this string. I use the 16g in my PAVS. While it is supposed to be stiff, I still find it comfortable. Also, it has the interesting feeling of just shooting off the racquet but still allowing me to experience some dwell. I use it in a full bed. Does anyone else enjoy this as their main string? do you use it in a full bed or hybrid?

Just bought a pack to put in my Aero 98, but I am very confused because of contradicting info - Babolat says it is softer than Blast, TWU data shows it is even stiffer.

User reports also vary, so I will probably string it 18kg mains / 17kg crosses (instead of my usual 20kg/19kg) just to be on the safe side comfort-wise.

Is this the 16g or 17g that you are using? In any case, I found that they felt different from what I would have expected given the numbers. I have mine at 54lbs. I prefer the 16g in my PAVS.

I used to play with rpm team back when I coached. I strung it at 58-60 on a 16x20 97 sq in frame. (1.25)

I liked it.

Was extremely surprised to see twu stiffness rating recently.

To compare; i now string ~40lbs on a 16x19 98 with “much less stiff string”.

I’m convinced the twu number for stiffness is wrong.

Would love to hear abt it when you revisit it :)

I am going to try a hybrid experiment next with 16g Team on mains and 16g Syn Gut cross. Looking for a bit more feel.

My local shop often installs Team x Sensation in their demos, for a long-lasting hybrid option, and I would recommend it for the feel as well.

i used both blast and team, the blast is great for a few hours then turns to stiff crap. The Team has much better feel and playability lasts much longer.

RPM Blast and RPM Team are the twins of Lux ALU and 4G. Both have been around since the dawn of poly. 4G and Team are both factory prestretched strings which increase their tension maintenance. 4G lasts longer than Team in same frame, same tension comparison. Some find them expensive, but Signum Pro and Kirschbaum also make prestretched string; they're just not stretched to the same degree.

Thanks for pointing this out - I didnt know RPM Team was prestretched. My understanding is that prestretched strings die faster since they lose elasticity faster?

Are they really though? Like I said before; I played with team at high tension in relative stiffer racket…

4g strung much lower on a much more flexible racket is the only setup I’ve ever hit with that caused me actual wrist pain. It was insanely stiff. I grew up playing with Kevlar.

So in my mind 4g holds up to its stiffness rating in twu —— rpm team not even close.

I doubt I was THAT bulletproof back when I taught tennis.
