Rubber Band vs. Babolat Cosmic Damp

I have been using a Babolat Cosmic damp (blue) for quite some time now. I just, tonight, installed a rubberband (i think it is 64) on my APDC. Still have not hit with it. How do these 2 damps compare? Which dampens more. I have played with a damp for ever, and love the smooth feel. I would like to have a bit more feel on the ball, since I am playing with slightly looser string (Xcel Premium 56). I tied it the traditional way (http://home.pacbell.net/gmlasam/rubberband.html)
Is there any way to "hide" the ends of the rubber bands so that they are not sticking out?
Thanks a ton!

Feel free to share your experience with either of these dampeners.

rubber band is a very subtle damp, if thats what you want..... im guessing the cosmic damp(i use the other babolat dampeners) gives a much better dampening, if u get what im saying.

Make sure your rubber band touches the bottom cross string to get the dampening effect which is very noticably no string sing.

Never tried the cosmic damp, but I have tried plenty of ones like it, sampras O, babolat custom damps, etc. Me personally, nothing better and cheaper than a staples 64 rubberband. I always had those O type damps fly out during hitting sessions. Rubberband stays put. They might dry out and crack after a long time on your strings, but I love it. Rubberband FTW! Rubberband damp just provides a nice sound to the string bed, and jsut enough damp, but still gives you plenty of feel.

Agreed. I don't think the tightness of the band determines how much "ping" it reduces. It's all about location. The further up the less vibration.

I thought the cosmic damp makes the stringbed feel dead. Maybe it's just in my head. A rubber band would dampen feel significantly less, which IMO is a good thing.

I agree, tried a lot of different ones, but the rubberband works just great.
