One of the more interesting first round matches for sure. Just hope it is scheduled at a reasonable hour - first one I'll watch for when the order of play is out.

Rublev only loses to big players in Australia. Sinner, Djokovic, Medvedev all beat him in quarterfinals. Statistically this is his most successful GS. He doesn't have bad days there unlike in the other GS. I'll trust him for this 1st round.

Fonseca only won the Next gen (basically an exhibition) and a small challenger. Let's not hype him up too much. Facing a top10 in a GS isn't the same as beating top200 in challengers!

First time I saw this Fonseca guy playing . I was expecting a generic, fairly skill less game as most players use today, but he actually he seems better than that. More capability to change directions (on both wings?) than Joe Atp? More willingness to change the game (slices, net approaches) than Joe atp. Good signs, albeit insufficient for a more complete analysis.

About Rublev, the guy obviously needs a sports psychologist. He was the better player during most third set (the only one I saw so far), but with his mental game, it is really tough to do any necessary adjustment required against a competent opponent when he is not in the zone. Not only his angriness, but also his stubbornness to play anything else than forehand ball bashing.

Fonseca is good hybrid of Federer and Safin in their prime. In all aspects - style, movement, FH/BH, body language, charisma,... smile :)

Not an article, but the the report of an ESPN Brazil commentator who was personally in Turin that year (in portuguese, captions unavailable at least for me):
Lmao. Imagine inviting (or paying?) a 17 year old player to play as your sparring, and then losing to him and complain that he's hitting to fast.
