Ruffcode FTW?

Got 6 packs of TF Ruffcode as a gift and just strung up 3 of my YT Prestige mps with the stuff at 54#s. Looks like Lux but has a different feel to the touch, seriously doubt it will play like Lux. I'm gonna try it out tomorrow and will let y'all know how it plays. Interested to hear others experiences as well!

it will not play like lux at all - it is a soft poly.
That's what I hear, main reason I doubted it would play like Lux lol! I also hear it has nice pop and gobs of spin... Should be a fun time for me.

yes, the power level is on the high side for a poly, and the spin is pretty decent too. the nice thing about it is that the profile does not wear down too fast. it is not really proeminent to start with, so you will not experience any serious drop-off in spin while playing.

i had some rough strings that were really grabbing the ball, but that effect wore off pretty fast as by the second hitting session, the profile would have worn down completely, so it was just producing "regular" spin, and some even less than that as they were not really sliding back as when fresh.

i got some really good 8 hitting hours out of it crossed with mantis comfort synthetic, although at a lower tension - around 46 lbs, in a 100 sq.in. frame with 16 mains.

Nice string! I really like the sound it makes lol more of a thud unlike most other ploys which are a bit pingy. Good pop and above par spin for a poly, my ball was noticeably heavier but dropping a bit shorter in the court. Didn't do ANY serving unfortunately though.

Ok so this string really does have a lot of control, I'm hitting shots like the insideout FH at a sicker angle for example. Have not served enough to really gauge if it's better, getting more kick and great placement but something is missing on the flat serves...

it is not a particularly "fast" string, that's true, but it is not among the slow ones either.

the polyfibre black venom rough for instance is a bit faster but then you get somewhat less control.

if you have a chance give the genesis twisted razor a ride.

Yeahh I definitely got that feel from it, not being a fast string I mean. I do like it quite a bit from the back court since I'm taking big cuts and the ball still goes right where I want it. One thing though is NO free power, if you swing the ball is heavy and fast enough for me but like on a screw around swing the ball goes nowhere.

did you play it full bed?
i crossed it with the mantis comfort synthetic and strung it lower, so i was not really having those problems on off center shots, in spite of the mcs not being a powerfull string either. i still got enough power on those "scramble-shots", but then i'm playing a 16mains stick, and i assume the prestige is 18 (if my memory serves me right).

Nah not off center or pure miss hits, like when warming up or like literally messing around where you don't take a big or hard cut on the ball the shots just drop short or lose the weight. Like I had a 4 and a half hour hit today and the last half hour-45 mins I was slowing down and my ball just lost its weight and speed.
I only play full poly cause I break quite often, it's ridiculous sometimes. Yeah the Prestige mp is 18x20.
