Rules of Medical Time Out

I was wondering why Djokovic was allowed to take a 2 medical time outs 1 game apart. I thought a player couldn't take a medical timeout when the other player is going to serve? I know they can't take a bathroom break on another person's serve either. I was just wondering exactly what the rule is...it seems to change for every match. I thought Djokovic shouldn't be allowed all those medical time outs in such quick succession. What is the rule on this? Nadal should have voiced an opinion too. He was too complacent throughout the whole match. I want to see the fiery Nadal again.

I did not see the entire match. Can you give me the details on what happened with 2 medical timeouts?

Yes, when Nadal had momentum and won the 3rd set in a slugfest, Djokovic suddenly said his back hurt after that set and took a time out for medical treatment. This happened prior to Nadal's service game in the 4th set. Then when Djokovic had to serve and barely held his service game, he takes a full medical time out to further disrupt Nadal's rhythm. Then after his supposed injury, he made amazing shots and had the injury suddenly disappeared.

Ok, so how long was the treatment at the set break?

Funny how nadal always does this to others when he is losing and then suddenly runs around the court like an electrocuted jack rabbit. None of the *******s ever start threads complaining.

Mary Joe checked with USTA and made it clear during the broadcast- the timeout during the set break does not count as Djokovic was attended within the time limit for the set breaks.

Also John was under the impression that Djokovic cannot take time out when Nadal serves and he said he was wrong.

So, OP, what is your problem with what happened? LOL.

After reading from others, I see that you are only sad that Nadal lost.

You can read the medical timeout rules if you are unclear at www.itftennis.com in the Grand Slam rulebook.

This made me smile. I was thinking the same thing !

Oh, come on, now. It's not Nadal's fault he can't tell a broken foot from taping that's a little tight. It's not like he's a world-class athlete who's accustomed to dealing with injuries or anything. ;)

Funny how he could only tell when his opponent has momentum and about to serve.

Doesn't matter, Nadal was going to lose with a 50% 1st serve no matter what.

In the matter of fact, Nadal was winning less points on his first serve, than second.

At least in the first half of the match ...
