Rumor of a new RF racquet at French Open 2018

My comment was deleted but if that was what Wilson plans to launch then its total trash, absolute trash. Literally its just a different paint color, I would not consider it even to be an update.

I just got a glimpse of the new pro staff, as one of my friends was stringing it up for the new Wilson rep in town. Same matte black finish, but with white gloss at the halfway points. Basically they just changed the gloss black parts to white. Wasn't too interested in it.

I posted a video interview of Roger saying a while back "We already got something cooking for next year" and now after seeing it, I am laughing it took them a whole year to make such a minor and insignificant change.

Im not sure what to think, I wanna call it " fugly!", but im not sure
that racquet with a white overgrip!, might look nice after in, in flight.
white lettering, and white grommets strips would def. Tie it all in for me..

I volley like John McEnroe so not sure how much improvement I can make there.

According to you Sig, you serve like Nishikori. On that basis you could not possible volley like SuperMac.

In order to volley like SuperMac you would have to serve like SuperMac :)

Are you a Lefty by they way?

tennisthis just posted a photo on Instagram

I think the white highlighting on the PWS makes the racquet look cheap. I can understand the white Wilson lettering. They have to promote the racquet somehow. The thing I loved about the all black colour was that it was easy to confuse people about what it was. Some less than well informed people thought my black PS97CV was a Yonex prototype. lol. No such confusion with this supposed new PJ.

At least it will be easy to cover the white highlights with a black sharpie if there is no other choice ;)

I saw the new PS on an Instagram post, it looks exactly like the previous models except with white "Wilson" and white accents on the 3 and 9"oclock. I've been waiting for a good prostaff to come out since they stopped the PS90's, none of the newer models have the same feel. But seriously Wilson, are you even trying? They look super cheap and if the color is all your changing, you might as well make an option to where we can customize the color without charging us extra. . .
p.s. the first Pro Staff Tour 90 and the ncode 90 had the best paint jobs imo. . .

The PS90 paints were fine, some I preferred over others such as Black BLX, nCode, and last mostly white iteration. The RF97 2015 was alright too but ever since they went with this minimalistic/modern design, it kinda was risky cause though it was something different it did come across as cheap-looking especially for 200+ price tag. Was hoping this update would have outgrown that design but guess they are still gonna push it as much as they can. Another design that was decent was the Blade 93 and their newly reissued SixOne 95 but doesn't matter since I don't really like any of their new PS line-up racquets. PS97 too lively, RF97 retains that plow but really not anything special and the PS97LS was nice but probably not players stick.

@NuBas I agree with alot ^^
Alot of this is federrers doing,,
he mentioned in one of his video interviews how he likes the velvet feel of the racquet, and the all "classic", all black look,,
im not a fan of either,, cant stick a stringer label to the racquet
places where the velvet finish rubs off, look like crap afterwards
and the all black look does nothing for me,, and now HEAD is following suit,, dummm
this new design coming up, looks alot better, or rather a step in the right direction, to my taste..

No but have you seen the new Head Speed design? I find it tasteful and really elegant, super sleek. Have a look at these posts
I think these companies play off of each others designs and try to compete with each other, they must follow same trends or something.

Was the PS line supposed to be updated this soon? Maybe this is some sort of limited edition and hopefully they will actually do a real update when they usually do it (every 2 years?).

@NuBas
the red/black rf97a came out on 2014
the black/black rf97a came out on 2016

so yeah, every 2 years is expected now,, but its just a PJ..
Ppl that know/keepup with tennis equipment like us on this site wont be fooled in that regard,, but will still buy the new color if it looks better, or just want the latest..

I got to see the new head speed pro today,, all black, shiny and It tapers into white near the "Y" section of the racquet
the odd thing, was the "speed pro" racquet name on the side,, it looks out of focus,, as to imply "speed",, not sure how I feel about that..

Oh nice and yeah Head intentionally did that which is cool to me but might give some a headache :D

^^ slightly off topic but those posts of the new head speed are not the final paint job. similar to the previous speed, there are blacked out cosmetic samples going around but the finished product will have white in the paint job. these black outs are to build social media hype

fedr doing his best to channel is inner Jony Ive...maybe he will release a unibody aluminium racquet with a string pattern of 1x1 with a glowing W on the handle.

Well actually I quite like the 2016 RF97A design and the velvet for the most part, and I even like how they're bringing in all the other models under the same design philosophy, but it's the apparent laziness in changing the colours at 3 & 9 and slapping on a huge price bump over the limited edition label that's annoying me more than anything else.

NOT TO MENTION THEY STILL HAVEN'T RELEASED AN RF90; THAT IS THE BIGGEST TRAVESTY OF THEM ALL

Im kinda wondering if the snapshot picture we saw was legit?!, or if it is a chinese knockoff,,,
we'll know for sure in july I guess..

Recenly, It looks more flexible than 2004 models I had which where rated 67 points on a babo machine

Look at the flex here below its like concaving while hit low on the head
That is some serious flex closer to my chingaling copies

Very easy to achieve that flex but it takes a little time.

Just restring the racquet repeatedly at least 150 times using Kevlar at around 90lbs ref tension.

150 hours later. Voila! 58 RDC Unstrung!

To the OP, I know it's probably not legal, but I'm taking bets and giving odds that Federer and Wilson will not debut a new Federer Signature Frame at the 2018 French Open. No way....no how.
