Running a Pickleball Meetup

I'm thinking of hiring a basketball court and running 4 pickleball courts as a Meetup group. The centre supplies and installs the nets. I have to buy balls. What should I get? Is is worthwhile paying more for branded balls? Hopefully people will have their own paddles. I guess I could buy a few for beginners. Is there anything else I need to know? I will probably run at a loss initially but hopefully people will come eventually. Will cost me $50 to hire for 2 hours. If I charge $10 each, I only need 4 others to break even ($10 for me). If I get more people I could buy some paddles.

For balls, I recommend the Franklin X-40 which are the gold standard for rec play.

If you're looking for a few beginner paddle sets, I would recommend the Selkirk starter set from Costco. Amazon also has some value starter sets.

What about the tape you have to put on the basketball court? Will you have to rip them off after every session? It is a lot of work to install and then take off those strips for 4 courts.

You should move to either Fairfax or Arlington County in Virginia where there are many outdoor PB outdoor courts available that you can use for FREE....
