Hi all, I am trying to get the above shot right to to improve my game against power baseliners. Hard to explain, but here's an example from federer:

When hit correctly(?), it looks pretty good as the ball lands with speed in the service box at a wicked angle, catching out the baseliner. Problem is I can't do it consistently, shanking quite a number of balls.

Any tips on getting it right?

Hit a normal forehand and just finish over the head.

I do my angle by not hitting through the ball as much. If I wanted faster topspin rotation, I would swing faster scratching the ball and not hit through the ball as much to get the same short ball just with more spin. Using the windshield wiper, over the head, or over the shoulder finishes produces the same effect for me. Doing that buggy whip shot in the video makes no difference for me even though I use it a lot.

In that video I see a normal forehand. Federer could have just kept his racket on the opposite shoulder but he decided to bring it back to the same hitting side, thus he produces the over the head finish.
