yey!! Shame cos i like Davy but i like Nalbandian as well, he played great against Davy :P amazing how he jst comes bak and beats him in straight sets but that David for ya lol i suppose Davy hasnt had many matches bak at all tho as well.

Great match by Nalbandian. He was clutch and very solid with his serve, 9 aces and 0 dfs is unusual for him.
Beating Youznhy and Davydenko in straight sets in Russia is really impressive.

Nalbandian is crazy talented. He's comeback from two long injury layoffs this year and still has an impressive 11-3 record on the year. Which is better than his career winning percentage.

It helped a lot that the tie was played indoors. When Nalbandian is at or near his best he's probably the best indoor player in the world. If only he could duplicate that at the Grand Slams. Still, I think his best chance at a GS would be the US Open.

I second that. Nalby at Madrid and Paris 07 was simply untouchable - that includes a "prime" Federer. TMC 05 Final was also an incredible sight - to see prime Federer simply outplayed to the point where he almost appeared gobsmacked and clueless on court (followed by an inevitable choke by Nalby to let Fed back into the match of course). Would be great to see Argies v France indoors.

Never give credit to Nalbandian, right?

you have it inside.

I CANNOT WAIT to see Nalbandian versus Llodra (who Guy Forget absolutely has to stick with now) in the SF. Indoor hard in France - two of my favourite 3 players against each other. I'll have to take Nalbandian I think... great to see him back. Hope he stays healthy now for a good crack at the US open. What a genius. By the way thanks for the highlights

LOL outplayed? Did you even see the match? Federer had an ankle injury and won the first two sets. He then came back in the 5th, Nalby didn't choke Fed just brought his level up.

Nalbandian was always a choker though. Remember his choke in Indian Wells 2009 where he wasted a million match points? That's the main reason the best memory of his career will be beating Nadal and Federer in some clown MM tourny.

Nalbandian beat Federer twice in slams, in a masters cup final and in master series (one in a final), He beat ****** twicein master series (one in a final)

Rafa fought back and took those match points from David.

And I think David will have a pretty good last memory of winning both the singles rubbers and taking Argentina to the semis today.

Federer was healthy. He said after the match that his ankle wasn't bothering him at all. The link to the interview has been posted on several previous threads where this was mentioned.

Exactly, Federer was healthy in Shangahi, He maybe didnt arrive with the optimum training time. but All players have to deal with that problem even Nalbandian many times against Federer ( I.E in masters cup 03) or against other players.

Federer had an ankle brace just for precaution maybe that's reason his fanboys/fangirl thinks He was injured or Maybe they can't accept Federer is not invencible and can lose when healthy.

Nalbandian Argentina's hero again

David Nalbandian produced one of his finest Davis Cup performances to put Argentina through to the Davis Cup by BNP Paribas semifinals, after he won the decisive fifth rubber against Mikhail Youzhny in straight sets.

The Argentine had hardly picked up a racket in the last three months coming into the tie because of injuries, but he showed immense mental strength to beat his Russian rival in just under two and a half hours.

“I played great, much better than Friday,” commented Nalbandian. “I said I had to keep improving my game, and that is what I did today. We won so I’m so happy to be in the semifinals again.”

It was too tight to call a winner coming into the match. Youzhny had not lost a home Davis Cup singles rubber in five years, and had looked impressive in beating Leonardo Mayer on Friday. But Nalbandian was a completely different proposition and had beaten Youzhny in Monte Carlo in April, the last meeting between the two players.

The first set saw both players dominant on serve and with break points at a premium and it wasn’t surprising that it went all the way to a tiebreak. Nalbandian and Youzhny both had chances to take control, but it was the Argentine who eventually took it to move into the lead.

The second set was equally as tight, but in the ninth game, Nalbandian was finally able to break his opponent, which left him to serve out for the set and move into a commanding lead.

Youzhny had a mountain to climb, and his Argentine opponent took a massive stride towards victory in the first game of the third set, as he broke the Russian. There was to be no way back for the Muscovite as Nalbandian eased to victory, and ended Russia’s 14-year unbeaten home Davis Cup record.

Nalbandian was always overrated. Hilarious how some think he could be a multi-slam winner with his mental strength and crazy amount of errors he makes. Even headcase Safin grabbed a couple of slams. Says a lot really.

You can't be overrated if you reach no 3 in the world.
