Russian tennis player Daniil Savelev accepts two-year doping suspension (meldonium)

Meldonium is not a prescription drug, It's use at an East European track meet was researched by USADA.

There was no evidence it was a PED, but it was banned as they saw its use as against the spirit of sport.

It became yet another element of the American war on Russia and its involvement in the Olympics.

The Wimbledon ban on Russian tennis players was yet another element.

And then we had the Peng Shuai beat-up by the WTA.

Meldonium thing is very complex.
I have asked again and again the good and detailed study which has prompted ban on this Drug but to this date I have got nothing, it is just one word to another word .
A December 2015 study in the journal Drug Testing and Analysis argued that meldonium "demonstrates an increase in endurance performance of athletes, improved rehabilitation after exercise, protection against stress, and enhanced activation of central nervous system (CNS) functions".[83] However the study itself presents no evidence for this claim, and focuses instead on describing two approaches for the reliable identification of meldonium.
Forbes reported that anesthesiology professor Michael Joyner, at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, who studies how humans respond to physical and mental stress during exercise and other activities, told them that "Evidence is lacking for many compounds believed to enhance athletic performance. Its use has a sort of urban legend element and there is not much out there that it is clearly that effective. I would be shocked if this stuff [meldonium] had an effect greater than caffeine or creatine (a natural substance that, when taken as a supplement, is thought to enhance muscle mass)."
Ford Vox, a U.S.-based physician specializing in rehabilitation medicine and a journalist reported "there's not much scientific support for its use as an athletic enhancer"
Don Catlin, a long-time anti-doping expert and the scientific director of the Banned Substances Control Group (BSCG) said "There's really no evidence that there's any performance enhancement from meldonium – Zero percent"

I am not saying it is not enhancer, let say I agree that it is a big doping Drug but shouldn't there be a clear evidence and a big time study like for they did for other Drug, what I get only one Article from this News to other

Meldonium potentially enhances overall health by increasing oxygen delivery to the body cells. It enhances the body’s ability to use oxygen more efficiently during intense physical activity. It helps maintain higher levels of exertion with less fatigue by improving the flow of blood and oxygen to muscles.

This increased flow of oxygen supports better endurance and stamina, which is necessary for various forms of physical performance.

One of the ways in which Meldonium works is by reducing muscle fatigue. It does so by minimizing the buildup of lactic acid, which is the byproduct of intense exercise. It leads to muscle soreness and decreased performance.

Meldonium helps individuals perform greatly and more intensely by reducing lactic acid accumulation in muscle areas.

Meldonium is used by bodybuilders to increase muscle mass and endurance. However, like any other drug Meldonium also possesses some benefits and side effects, which are mentioned below.

  • Enhanced Endurance
Bodybuilders who do intense workouts might face problems with muscle endurance. Meldonium may help improve endurance by increasing the oxygen delivery to the muscles. It may also improve the stamina which ultimately enhances more sets and repetitions.

  • Reduced Fatigue
During intense workouts, your muscles produce energy anaerobically when the oxygen is already limited. It produces lactic acid as a byproduct. When lactic acid starts to accumulate in the muscles it causes a burning sensation, leading to muscle fatigue.

Meldonium helps reduce muscle fatigue by minimizing lactic acid buildup during intense workouts. When no fatigue is involved, a bodybuilder may better focus on their workout sessions.

  • Faster Recovery
It may also aid in recovery between periods of physical exertion. It speeds up recovery and promotes blood circulation. This further helps in clearing the metabolic waste products from muscles and delivers essential nutrients to the body.

  • Increased Training Intensity
With reduced fatigue, faster recovery, and increased endurance a bodybuilder can more effectively focus on their training sessions. They can prolong their training sessions and achieve their desired bodybuilding results.

All part of the intended effect of the PED known as Meldonium. The one and only reason Russian players have taken the drug time after time, right up to 2024. Users all know what Meldonium provides, and it is not some BS fantasy of having a placebo effect. It was and remains the same PED that this one below used and abused for an advantage in her career--

The facts are as follows: there was a manufactured, intended effect of the PED known as Meldonium (posted on this page by vokazu). The one and only reason Russian players have taken the drug time after time, right up to 2024, now including Daniil Savelev. Dry your tears. The manufacturer claims were backed up by investigation, also posted on this board, so...

Then why is Savelev banned for 2 years?

Indeed. Savelev would not be banned in 2024 for a drug that was the a placebo--the equivalent of a certain Russian propagandist's so-called "sugar pill". Savelev used a know PED and has been suspended--deservedly so.

I would like to immediately appeal this mistaken inclusion. Even a cursory examination of my posting history will make clear the obvious error. Thank you for your consideration of my appeal.

Yes, well, you are quoting an animal study of boars. Humans are not farm animals so you are clutching at straws.

Science is not a one-off gotcha move. It requires a sufficient quantity of research involving humans.

Tennis players are humans, by the way, in case you haven't noticed.

Does meldonium increase testosterone?

The concentration of blood serum testosterone was higher in the meldonium-treatment group than in the control group.

Savelev should hire Jackie Chiles as his defense attorney:

"My client is innocent! Daniil and his Aerodrive were on board Areroflot sitting next to Sharapova and Swiatek. Mr Savelev was having trouble sleeping and he requested melatonin from Swiatek but got meladonium from Sharapova!

This misadvised melatonin miscommunication created a massive meladonium meltdown the likes not seen since Chernobyl! The allegation my client would intentionally take PED's is outrageous, egregious, and preposterous! It's a travesty of justice, a clear violation of Daniil's rights, and this is the most public yet of my many humiliations Mr Savelev has suffered."

Drug testing in tennis has become insane and worthless. Get rid of it. Taking 100000kg of Trenbolone isn't going to make you hit a better return or drop volley. This is a joke. It's like Korda getting suspended for steroids when he was 6'3" and 150lbs soaking wet. This level of drug testing is just ruining sports at this point.

Meldonium increases the capacity for oxygen delivery to tissue during exercise and can therefore enhance an athlete's performance.

Every study independent of the manufacturer concludes Meldonium is a PED, no matter how much certain people shake their fists. Another corrupt Russian tennis player falls because of a very specific PED.

Meldonium expands the arteries and increases blood flow around the body, which is why it is deemed to be performance and endurance enhancing.

Meldonium can be used to help the metabolism in heart muscles and it has a similar effect on other muscles as well. This means athletes can potentially do more with less. Muscles are less likely to be fatigued, and recovery times are likely to be shorter.

This is not what two leading researchers told the NYT when the "ugly carpet" incident occurred. They said it had no PED effects.

Meldonium expands the arteries and increases blood flow around the body, which is why it is deemed to be performance and endurance enhancing.

Now, go fetch, or go somewhere else, because all of your post boil down to "pleeease leave poor Russia sports program alone! They are all innocent." Nope. The corrupt players were suspended, whether years ago, or now in late 2024 with Savelev because Meldonium is a PED, and despite your habitual screams that its a placebo, you have not proven it by any stretch of the imagination.

What is proof is as follows:

Meldonium expands the arteries and increases blood flow around the body, which is why it is deemed to be performance and endurance enhancing.

Meldonium can be used to help the metabolism in heart muscles and it has a similar effect on other muscles as well. This means athletes can potentially do more with less. Muscles are less likely to be fatigued, and recovery times are likely to be shorter.

If you "won" anything, you would not need to chase down every thread and post with facts about the PED Meldonium, and present a reason why its still being used by tennis players. Obviously, you have never countered anything, and resort to hollow accusations of members having some sort of "hate" of Russia, which is an absurd charge. That said, i'm sure you will return to post yet another 50 posts about there being no evidence that the proven, purposely developed PED Meldonium is not a PED--which you would not need to do if you "won" this topic.
