Ruud on Sinner loss: "Honestly I think it was more fun than anything"

Ferrer does not have zero path to victory over Nadal at all. He has incredible return and he also can grind out rallies with solid backhand. As you already know. Still you said he has no path to victory. Ferrer is very solid counter to Nadal game.

Do you feel that Ferrer’s incredible return and then subsequent baseline battle with Nadal has a better chance to win games than Ruud with his serve and first forehand?

I wouldn't be so happy if I bought tickets and then I read Ruud's reaction after the match. I'd be asking myself "wtf did I just payed for?"

I would have absolutely gotten my ticket moneys worth watching that highlight reel demolition

On reflection I guess I can kinda understand where Ruud is coming from. Sometimes you get so overpowered by a better opponent that you just bcome resigned and amused to see what wonder shot the opponent is going to hit next.

Djokovic defeated Thiem 6-1, 6-0 at Rome in 2017. Thiem then defeated Djokovic 7-6, 6-3, 6-0 at the French Open a couple of weeks later. Hope Ruud rebounds to have a good FO. Losing badly to a player who is zoning happens on tour. BTW Djokovic also then lost the Rome final to Zverev after thrashing Thiem in the semi.

This happened to Murray quite a bit in his career.

Nadal beat Soderling 6-1, 6-0 at 2009 Rome, 1 month before Soderling beat Nadal 6-2, 6-7, 6-4, 7-6 at the 2009 French Open.

This has nothing to do with a bad mentality. On the contrary, I think Ruud is one of the hardest workers on tour. But in contrast to some others he isn't a sore loser and simply knows when he was deservedly beaten by a very rare performance.

It has everything to do with a weak/defeatist mentality, and in Ruud's case, it is generational.
