Ruud vs Cerundolo

Being the perfect gentleman and good guy that he is, Ruud breaks Cerundolo in the middle of the set....or thats what it looked like.

Anyhow, trivial info, Ruud is one of the few, possibly only pro player, who has reduced the post match hand shake rituals at the net to a minimum. He will generally just be polite, win or lose, and let it be up to his opponent what kind of narrative he wants to create. Respect!

Watching this match, I don't think Ruud reduced the handshake at the conclusion of the match. It looked more like Cerundolo was disappointed and wanted to keep it brief. Not that anyone would blame him, as he had won the last time he played Ruud, and this time he lost a close match.

U have misunderstod what I meant. I meant reduced to a minimum in the positive polite sense, ie little drama and few atp handshake rituals.

How does being a gentleman and breaking a guy in the middle of the set connect? I dont see the dots…

Anyway. I dont see him as a gentleman. Before the QF at RG last year Ruud and his team picked on Rune to let the emotions get the better at him. After the match Ruud shaked his head and in the locker room Ruud yelled at Rune’s face. It was a disgrace.

Most of all I dont like Ruud because he has a boring game.

What happened in the locker room is unclear. I saw an interview on norwegian tv, when both Ruud and his father "swore" that Rune made it up and that they didnt know why. I believe that part that it didnt happen. Im sure its all part of american wrestling style show.

Re ur first question, I have explained in other posts.

Why does it always feel like Ruud is in the right place at the right time in the draw? He’s the guy that lets mugs upset the dangerous guys in his path, and then he takes care of business and beats the guys he’s supposed to beat after the dirty work has been done.

Well, if the pattern "beats all odds" then u can ask urself if he is just lucky or if something is going on under the surface. This being the atp, both scenarios are possible!

Seems like part of a larger plot to get nice guy mild mannered chick magnet Casper into the exposure end of the big tourneys.

Seems like part of a larger plot to get the draw down to not only the seeded players, but also those lower-ranked players who get hot during that particular tourney. I don't buy any of the ATP conspiracy theories...

Yes its possible, and he has lost/tanked(?) alot lately in smaller tournaments lately, so.........within the atp they always try to make sure that what goes around comes around. Each player has a function in the circus.
