Ruud- will he ever get in this position again?

I like Casper. He’s works hard, has a great attitude on court, and he’s humble. Serve is mid tier, forehand is elite ( clay I’d argue it’s one of the best weapons in the mens game), but the backhand, is glaring, it is borderline not even top 100 level. I suppose that’s why we’ve seen players like van de zandshulp, lajovic, and others make him suffer before the french. Their is a strategy to beat this guy. I think ruud boy has been rather fortunate and has capitalised on an (easy) draw I say that with the most respect. If Djokovic, nadal, alcaraz or zverev was in his half, I very much doubt ruud gets out the quarters. With players like alcaraz, musetti, rune, young players with great clay court ability and already established players such as zverev and tsitsipas enjoying the clay, I don’t think theirs any guarantees ruud will find him in a Roland garros final ever again.

best of luck to to him though. I will cheer for Casper because I do enjoy his game. I just hope he can improve that bum backhand.

No chance. He lacks the competitiveness and killer instinct. I say this as a huge admirer of Ruud. But I don’t think he has it in him to win a slam.

Nah. I kept comparing him to Thiem when Thiem made his first final. But I was much more convinced that Thiem would be back than Casper.
