He should have won Rome master 2023 , after beating Cerundolo in straight and playing good till mid of the second set in semi , he lost the plot completely

Ruud absolutely owns Rune at the moment.
Did you watch the match last night? It was a case of Holger cramping and choking as opposed to anything great Casper did. Holger was up 4-2, 40-15 in the third and then started cramping and even (bizarrely) pretending to vomit on court. Another instance where Rune's fitness and mental fragility is exposed.

My point is that Holger clearly outplayed Ruud, who was broken 3 straight times in the third. The problem was that Rune was broken 4 straight times. :-D But a 6-1 H2H does indicate ownage, so props to Casper.

But you can say that Rudd also played much better in that Rome semi loss

I don't get his fitness issues, like is there something wrong at his core? or does he just not but the training in? Surely a player sat firmly in the top 10 has the team to work on his fitness. I didn't watch the match but saw the highlights and the way he was hitting when his legs gave up was ridiculous, he almost didn't need his legs.

Still, credit to Ruud. One of the most underrated players on the tour right now.

Yep Rune has fitness problem, don't know why but yeah I saw match Rune was easily better than Rudd in that match

there is probably no science behind this opinion, but rune almost seems 'overtorqued' to me...like he has to put just a little too much into his game to sustain things sometimes. a heavier racket is my answer to everything it seems, but imo he does need a way to maybe introduce a little more efficiency into his game.

also...man ruud has quitely put together a pretty great resume, 3 slam finals, i forget that sometimes. yeah he comes up short often...runs into some big guns of course. but if you just watched him hit for a while, i'm not sure i would say there's a multi-slam final player. good for him...as many people have noted, seems like one of the nicest guys on tour on top of it.

I’ve never seen Rune get injured when he is leading in a match. But when he is losing there is always a medical timeout. I almost feel like it has become an emotional crutch for him and wonder how serious his in-match niggles are.

Ruud is 10-10 in tour level finals

10-4 in ATP 250 level finals
0-6 in anything which is ATP 500 and above. Losses have come to Alcaraz (x2), Djokovic (x2), Nadal and now de Minaur.

He’s a French contender for sure.
