I noticed that today as well. I don't think that his using his normal ALU/Gut hybrid. It looked like a full poly job of either BB original or Bal Polymono.

I would be interested to know why he would switch for the hard court season

I noticed this too, the shine of it makes it look like Ballistic Polymono.
Whether its full Polymono or a Polymono Gut Hybrid is the question.

He could've stuck with his clay setup of full ballistic, or have reverted to his old ballistic/gut. He played 2004 Aus Open, where he got to finals but lost to Fed with ballistic/gut, then in 2005 beat Fed with Alu/Gut. So he may have just gone back to this setup.

I bet you $10 that it's full Ballistic Polymono he's using now. VS Gut is usually white in color, even under the sunlight. I clearly saw his racquet having a honey-color tone overall (mains and crosses), which can pretty much mean he's using full poly.

I'll agree with you shicko.
After looking at Getty its pretty clear that he's back to full Ballistic Polymono.

Love the fact that he's using full poly in such a small frame and still has so much power.

I sure hope these are good strings. Based of the hype here and the feedback on the TW site...they look pretty nice and what a great price!

Like you said, I also had a little bit of difficulty understanding the Russian-accented English. When he said "I don't want to play cos I don't want to slip" I thought he meant "I don't want to sleep" lol.

I thought the same thing. I was hoping my favorite player wasn't that lazy!

The first thing I noticed when I saw Safin on TV today was the yellow strings. My first tought was that he got back to the Super Smach, but the yellow was to light to be Super Smash...but looking in hte pics I don't think it is Ballistic...are you sure about this?

Yeah, pretty darn sure.
Our boy Shcmad here has his LM prestige mid strung with Full Ballistic at the moment and knows how it looks methinks.

I've always wondered where this quote from? Video?

My vote is for Full BB original.... I have tried that in PC600 and at low tensions with some lead, you can generate massive power with that set up.

The BB original is Probably an influence from his new coach Hernan Gumy. About 99% of all argentines use BB original, so it wouldn't surprise me at all if he were using BB O. Also BB O and Polymono look very similar in tone from tv.

I wish Abllee could verify this
