I don't view either one as "one dimensional". I do think Sampras was fortunate to have his greatest wins on grass during a time when Wimbledon was still viewed as the big prize. But there are those who say that winning RG is not that big an achievement because clay is just not as important, and I don't agree. I'm also not sure Fedovic would have had much better success at the WTF if it were held on clay.Yeah, Sampras's wins and dominance over high ranked players of his time are quite great..... but I think he not winning FO is being overrated now, maybe it makes him look 1 dimensional ??? Like Nadal is seen as claydal, same way?
Then there is the nonsense that the AO is the weak slam, less important, and I absolutely don't see that. You'll see the AO given more importance when someone young wins it and it fits someone's narrative.
