Being from India, I really hope she gets things right this time, especially with her serve. Would like to see atleast another 4th rd. appearance by her. May be the effect of her 3 week training with Tony Roche will show today..

Who is she?
She's taken two Junior Grand Slams (AU and US) last year.
She's 16, and decided to start WTA tour this year as I understand.
And they say she serve&volleys which is "interesting" or..very unusual on the womens tour, also she's from Belarus, same country where Max Mirniy is from, which might explain her S/V-ing somewhat.

That's about all I know about Victoria Azarenka, who will play Mirza in the first round.

Ah, yes...my wife Natasha is from Belarus too. :)

I'm Asian but i don't particularly feel for her. No major impact on me.
Asia is a very large continent with diverse ethnic backgrounds

And your point is?

From a billion people, one tennis player..that too an average tennis pro at the best and ppl talk as if she is world beater. Her best so far.....yea ..4 rd appearence in grandslam. ..every year 4 (grandslams) x 16 players =64 players get that distinction....

Keep the head down..talk less..show more classy tennis. get results... then Talk.

The more important issue with this player is: What's she wearing?

Yes, it is rather unfortunate that people dont see what she accomplishes but what she is not wearing..These are the same people who stay up late at night watching mature movies...

If you're aware of the controversy surrounding her choice of apparel last year, you would know that most of the "people" whom you're refering to-the ones who made this into such an issue-are not the type to stay up late at night watching porn.

Well, she made it into the 4th round with a ranking of 30 somthing I think? It wasnt exactly expected of her to get that far, so I think she should be proud.

I am not taking anything away from what she achived. All i am saying is what she achieved is not the pinnacle of Tennis. Long way to go b4 becoming a Tennis ace.

I believe she is looked at as if she is the greatest tennis player in india and i believe she also has security and etc. Sucess surely got to her head.
