Saudi Arabia Looking To Buy Miami Or Madrid

I haven't written anything about tennis.
I have only written about attendance at matches of Al Nassr, Saudi Arabia's football club, for which CR7, a big football star, plays. It's because you wrote: "Have you seen what the crowds they are getting at these soccer matches with all these big stars? They are horrible." It's weird that you blame me for "throw[ing] in some nonsense about big stars."
The attendance sucks and you cant seem to get that through your head. Why as a fan do you think its a good idea to put a tournament here? For what reason? Give me one.

If there is an M1000 in China, why not in Saudi Arabia?

Nearby, there are two traditional tournaments, such as Doha and Dubai.

Miami's M1000 structure is a joke, and it already was in Crandon Park. The US still has Indian Wells and Cincinnati. So I don't see anything bad, taking Miami out of the circuit.

As for the grass M1000, I would like it to be in Hamburg, where there is a decent structure, and a central court with a retractable roof.

So, I think Miami and Madrid should leave the scene.
They won't move out of Madrid. Its a almost brand new venue that won't happen. Miami I could see. But you run into scheduling issues. If I were to guess if they put one here they will just plop it down as another masters and call it 10 masters. Whohooo.

I honestly see no purpose. Have you seen what the crowds they are getting at these soccer matches with all these big stars? They are horrible. I guess if you dont mind watching matches with no one there thats nice.

good point.. whos going to travel to saudi arabia to watch tennis

Still more than most WTA tournaments :)
Well i don’t know what the attendance is at these wta only events you are probably right. I just don’t really see a reason as fans ( and not business people) why anyone would think this is a great idea. Another tournament in some other part of the world that beats up players who are already beat up for the slams. I see this type of creep in all kinds of sports. Most glaringly in soccer. They run these dudes into the ground for the dollar or euro or whatever. And they most can’t play past 30 cause they are so broken down. Soccer invents one tournament after another has these guys flying all over the place, has four different regular season cups, then sends their best players to national teams for friendlies and other nonsense. And then the fans are left with guys beat up at 28 years old. The whole thing seems daft to me. So now we have Saudi who wants a new tournament or wants to steal one from some other city. Great. If they do plop it down before Indian wells and Miami or something like that I don’t want anyone crying cause their favorite player is burnt out by French open. Or if they buy out Madrid or Miami or whatever it’s well I don’t see how as a fan of tennis we should be like heck ya! I mean what does it do for the fans?

Nobody cares about Camel league and the prestige of such events are not same.

Paris should not host both a Slam and a Masters 1000. That's too much. And, frankly speaking, Paris Bercy is not particularly relevant compared to other Masters 1000.

If I could, I'd change the Paris Masters 1000 for Halle (a Masters 1000 on grass is necessary and Halle has a big stadium and perfect conditions for a Masters 1000). No more than 1 Masters 1000 on grass is necessary, considering the grass seasson is the shortest one.

The United States of America possesses three Masters 1000. That's too much for a single country (even if it is a giant one, China is also giant and only possesses one Masters 1000). In addition to the aforementioned reasoning, the new Miami stadium sucks. And there're too many hard court Masters 1000. Just change Miami for that hypothetical Masters 1000 in Saudi Arabia.

In sum:

Change Paris for Halle.
Change Miami for Saudi Arabia.

Problem fixed.

Buy Madrid so you can slot a grass Masters before Wimbledon I figure.

Course this is assuming ATP would approve I think Saudis asking to downgrade and therefore shorten existing Madrid tournament to 500 and using space for Grass Masters.

Unless it's as others think to transport Miami to combined with Doha-Dubai.

But hey Florida is big on tennis so if that tournament was completely wiped at least a 500 would pop up.
There won't be any grass tournament in Saudi Arabia lol
It's gonna be hard court 100%

Tennis is an Anglo-Franco game. If any place should have a Slam and a Masters, it's London or Paris.

Can't agree with Halle as a replacement as that would cut its sister tournament Queen's out of competition (who would play for 500 points when they could go somewhere else for a 1000?) and Queen's is by far the older and more prestigious of the two.
It has to be both or none at all.

As for Paris' relevance it is the only indoor hardcourt Masters and an important preparatory event for the tour finals which is played just a couple of weeks later.

Have you ever been to Riyadh in June? Average high temperature is 108F / 43C.

Madrid is end of April first week of May. They could push for more evening matches to compensate the weather but truthfully have you seen AO in recent years?

I was specifically referring to the post suggesting they could make Riyadh a grass tournament. Considering the grass season is in June I don't think that would work (not to mention the fact that they don't grow a lot of grass in KSA). I think if they buy out Madrid I imagine they would shuffle the schedule to play in Riyadh before the clay season starts.

I don't understand why people have a problem with it. Yes, newflash, money speaks. More money means a better tournament. Dubai is excellent.

It's a tennis tournament, who cares. Be respectful, play tennis and leave.
