Say IT Ain't So TW! Of All People to Perpetuate the Myth?

Et tu TW? In the racket blips and even in reviews here we are told which pros use which new racket. After years of many chiming in exposing and debunking much of this as wonton mfr. exaggeration or fraud, how can our ally TW perpetuate it? This is the best group of people in the industry yet they aid and abet. It is disappointing to say the least. Is nothing sacred? On the player gear board someone just asked if Blake uses a 300G. Of course not! Why can't TW get the specs of the endorsers and show it.
 
I don't think it is TW's duty to investigate which frame the pro players are actually using. What do you suggest ? They post on the TW site "Well, we don't know, but so and so posted on the message board that his cousin's friend strung at Scottsdale and that guy says that Blake is actually using X frame..." They have professional relationships with all of these companies, they are not going to question what these companies represent. Your effors should be directed toward the companies who are actually making the false claims.
 
For now on, let's just say "so-and-so ENDORSES" rather than "USES" this racquet. That's all we can agree on.
 
So... when one knows the truth... is there justification for lying - at any level of the 'game'?
 
TW is a retailer; they exist to sell tennis equipment, not to make you feel better about yourself. Anyone who reads these boards, KNOWS that the pros don't use off-the-shelf racquets; anyone who DOESN'T know that, and buys a racquet based on which pros "use" it, is a fool, and deserves to be separated from his money.
 
Life is easier when one person spends it trying to improve oneself rather than worrying about someone else lying or the way others live their life.

Marc I posted about this a looooooong time ago on the old board. Don replied and gave me a pretty politically correct answer and I guess he had no choice. They really can't start asking each and every player how their frames are customized. Some players might not want other players to have the info.

The whole reason manufacturers pay big money to endorse players is so Joe Average will take note of the racquet and go buy one. If TW were to blow the cover off that, it would at the very least be a kick in the nuts to their major suppliers (not to mention a bad move for TW's own sales). At worst, it could be a breach of contract.

It's not worth worrying about. The educated consumer can always find out the truth, if he wants, and the ignorant one is generally just as happy with his product in the end, anyway.
 
It really doesn't matter. There's more important things to worry about; like why that Bobolat Pure Drive is giving you tennis elbow when it isn't hurting Roddicks arm at all... ;0
