Schenzen 2014

Thanasi Kokkinakis just needs to beat Michael Venus in the last round of Qualifying to make it to the main draw! come on Kokkinakis

We keep saying how this tournement is below Murray but in all seriousness, Simon - Gasquet - Ferrer isnt exsactly easy. He needs a win tho so i hope he can do it here, he posted on twitter today about how its been a tough year for him and he's not wrong. Any title for him would be good just to get some confidence back into his game.

lol, Kokkinakis is greek too, just as I suspected, what's with those greek wunderkids from down under? :D

must be the food :) but kyrgios has been playing great, and I am really hoping this can be the tournament that Kokkinakis can show his stuff :)

It's shaping up to be a very interesting tournament with Toricki in main draw. Think Andy will win it. There are no big hitters here who can trouble him.

Troicki is trying to grab as many points as he can before the season ends, it will be very tough if he has to play the qualifying at 15 AO.

He needs roughly 300 points to secure that direct entry...very possible assignment with the remaining schedule and any decent results.

This time thing messes me up, in American time does Murray play his first match around Tuesday of next week?

Robredo survives slow start vs Groth and Monaco boots Pospisil. This is Monaco's first win streak on HCs since winning KL'12. His QF victim then was Pospisil.

The Kokkinakis-Giraldo warming up serve. Thanasi wearing the Kyrgios 2014 apparel -- I guess Kyrgios won't be needing those clothes anymore.

3.5 hours from now.
Thanks.

Terenigma Ferrer out? The link doesn't seem to have updated that bit from my laptop.

That is great news for Murray, that still leaves Gasquet and Robredo of course but if he can take Djokovic to 2 tiebreaks and win one he should be in with a good chance here.

edit: Im being stupid and reading the link wrong, I see Ferrer is out now. Come on Murray!

Yeah, Troicki beat him in straight sets 6-3, 6-4. Suprised me too but i have to wonder if he ever intended to make a deep run here. Murray has a relatively stress free run to the final now.

Also the match has started for anyone curious. Im watching it here:

Despite the score, Murray is playing so poor today. So many rallies he's had the initiaitve and suddenly one passive shot and he's on the defencive. The only reason he's still staying ahead is because he still has his excellent speed and retrieval game but its pretty clear why he's been struggling to get top 10 wins this year.

He doesnt even seem to have that same clever play he used to. The reason he's been so good for many years is he has changed his shot selection up to keep the oppenent guessing. These days its ALL agression or ALL passive, he's not using his head anymore and its showing. I really do wonder if this is because of Mauresmo..

But he did say recently in an interview she was encouraging him to play with variety, something he said he had missed before. Odd.

Well she's right but he's only been missing it this year. Before he had surgery he had it, he's shown it occasionally in matches this year but its not as good as it used to be. Its hard to explain but it feels more like a last resort idea when he uses it now as apposed to it being his gameplan. Y'know?

On topic: Murray wins in straight sets.

Yeah considering this guy is around 144 in the world and Murray has 2 grand slams I would have hoped he could play a bit better than he did today.

Still a win is a win and in theory he should play better as the week progresses.
