searching for powerful poly string

I am searching for powerful poly string. In recent, I set up Gammar Zo Verse 17 because this energy return % is 89% on TW. Yes, it is most powerful poly string that i used ever. But I do not like its feel. So i am just wondering to find another powerful poly.

While searching strings, I found that WeissCannon Black 5 Edge's energy return% is 90% on TW. Wow! But after reading its customers feedback on TW, many people said it is less power or just normal.

questions!

What does it mean energy return %?
Do you think the B5E is really powerful poly?

Or,
if you highly recommend some powerful poly string, please let me know.

Any comment, appreciated!

B5E is more of a control string for me when I use it as a main in a hybrid. Solinco Tour Bite Soft 17 is pretty powerful as a main string. Genesis Black Magic also was powerful for me as a main string. I don't use full poly so I can't help you there.

Tourna Big Hitter Black 7 17G and Solinco Tour Bite Soft 17 are quite powerful for polys. I know some folks say Dunlop Black Widow is also.. but I have not had the chance to play it yet.

I seemed to hit everything short with Dunlop Black Widow mains. Maybe I just needed a lower tension.

I guess.. as stated some think the string has good power.. others think it plays muted and soft with low power...I guess it depends the frame, user and tension.

TW Review: Andy G...

"Black Widow certainly delivered a deadly bite! With its multi-sided design, Black Widow grabbed the ball as well as Cyclone, RPM Blast or any other shaped string, and offered exceptional spin potential. However, what sets it apart from other polyesters is how much softer and more powerful it is. Our TW University lab tests show that Black Widow is one of the softer polyester strings available, and I could confirm that even after my very first hitting session. The stringbed felt very lively at impact, and the ball seemed to explode off the stringbed, making it extremely comfortable. Whereas some polys feel dead, you can definitely feel the ball jumping off the stringbed with this one. I wasn't used to all the added power at first, but after tinkering with the tension a bit I was able to dial it in and get Black Widow to respond the way I wanted. "

Interesting stuff.

energy return is usually higher in stiffer strings - so that has not very much to do with what usually is seen as power, but in one of the recent posts the tw professor explained that at impact, a part of the force goes into the ball and a part obviously into the string (the stick is taken out of the equation for matters of simplicity). the string loses less of the energy (transforming it to heat for instance) than the ball. while strings go anywhere between 5-15% loss of energy, the ball loses 45% of the energy that gets to it.
the stiffer strings tend to have a higher energy return as less energy gets to them but more of the impact energy transfers to the ball, which has the bad habit of losing up to 45% of it.
so, energy return alone is no indicator for the "power" of the string. we also feel that a string with higher launch angle and bigger deflection translates into longer balls, which we wrongly associate with more power.

Yes... of course since Andy hits the fuzz off the ball most strings may seem to have great power to him. Even so in comparison he feels it has very good power. One player here thinks it plays muted and soft.. but with less than average power. The customer feedback is a bit all over the place. The threads are also mixed. Guess I should try a set.

Here is another one that is just the opposite: Former D1 player:

Comments: I strung the 1.25 (17) @ 55 lbs. in my Wilson nBlade 106. It was painful to string, as it felt like I was getting paper cuts every time I weaved the crosses. This string produces huge spin, but you must swing out of your shoes to get the ball to go anywhere. This is coming from a 6.0 former Div 1 college player, so I can bring the heat. If I didn't have time to step into my shot and catch it right in my strike zone, I just hit sitting ducks with it. One of the lowest powered strings I have ever played with. It is a soft poly, but not very elastic. I can tell the durability is going to be poor as it notched noticeably in less than 30 minutes of hitting. If you want to experiment with this, I would hybrid it with a very slippery and powerful cross string to add some power and allow the mains to move back into place without notching.

Pro Line 1.20 is even higher, nearly 92%. However, it feels like other some other polys I've tried are more powerful but it seems to me that this is due to strings ability to hold tension.

B5E is excellent at holding tension too, so I think that's why I didn't find it particularly powerful.
