Sebastian Korda new racquet

I was watching Korda at Madrid yesterday, and he was hitting with a blacked out stick that appeared different from his Blade. Anyone have any insights?

Hope this image works.

Still looks like a Blade/H22 to me, it is just wrapped real high. Has that thicc bridge. And he is still using an 18/19. Might just be an unpainted pro stock.

Kind of weird how he's still rocking the black paint job going back to last year. Initially I suppose the believe was they would maybe give him the Shift paint job but now those racquets are retail and he's still using a black frame it's strange it doesn't have the Blade PJ.

agreed. isnt the point of these endorsements that they endorse a frame? he and dimitrov have to be super annoying to wilson marketing

For real. Use a paintjob or receive minimal endorsement money until you do. The W is not enough. Jesus, get with it players.

"anything but black is distracting" well great, here is zero dollars Grigor.

"I am superstitious, and I won a big tournament in the black out pj" well great, here is zero dollars Korda

you're doing it right, friend
Don’t hate. The good dr contains multitudes.

Or…you can scratch your head and ask yourself…WHY did he stop sharing all the useful information once I started replying with all the BS all the time?
Maybe the answer is right in front of you ;)
Keep doin’ it…

if i recall this is a specific market release. im sure someone can confirm
I would think so since all retail specs/markings are there. Definitely the retail mold, I measured 21.5mm beam width. Hits nice but stiff for my liking. Reminds me a little bit of the PS97 (I only tested the 1st gen)

Interesting, could you feel a difference in the flex characteristics based on the marketing jargon they are using? I think the blade and pro staff 97 are too close for comfort these days, very similar out of the box

Have not touched Wilson since 2019 when I played with kBlade (different from these)

Awesome! I was discourage over the weekend, after watching the Solow Sports review, in which they were hitting with a glossy version, and no specs on the throat. After seeing this, I much more hopeful of the retail release.
so it is same as the retail version, from the looks of it

Nope it will not be available retail.

Well at least not in the US or in a larger scope, as far as I have heard. There were some experiments with that string pattern, but I guess that the market as a whole will not need another 98 Blade.

Let's see if they ever release this via ProLabs in some form - but it would only be great if they use kBlade or some other older mold. Because the plush feeling, that is described in some YT vids, comes about 100% from the flex and mold.
As dr325i said, if you use the regular mold, it will just feel like another Blade with a missing cross string.

I experimented with my 18x20 PT113B making it the 18x19 by skipping the top cross and the bottom cross and the. Compared it to my PT113B in 18x19. Same setup (weight, balance, SW, strings). And I could never make them feel the same. My Head friends are telling me it is all in my head…and it may be…but to me they felt different.

this may be true, but I am 100% sure that these glossed out and hyped 18x19 rackets are not based off the v8/v9 Blade still

no no. They always test different beds and molds but this particular 18x19 will never make it to market or Pro Labs because the demand simply isn’t there for a small production of these frames. The Blade Pro I hit with no one else within a 5 hour drive of me has access to and it’s not even available for Ad staff to order.

Here's an interesting topic to discuss.

I had assumed Wilson would create all the current Blade 98's with the same mold, same layup as each other, then take a portion and drill it 18x20, another for 16x19, and 18x16.
But then I heard from someone else, that Wilson would create different layups/setups for the 18x20, 16x19 and so on, with each having different additions in graphite placement to compensate for the different drill pattern.

Anyone else have thoughts on this? If it is the case where each drill variation has a different layup, then an 18x19 would most definitely have a unique feel to it compared to the 18x20 or 16x19. Personally I have never gelled with the 16x19 version, but I like the 18x20, yet it lacks a little spin and power for me.

This is the way it’s done. I spoke with Angell few yrs ago about this and this is exactly what he said that layup changes slightly to compensate for different drill patterns.
