SEC Tennis

kentucky takes doubles
MSU down vs Arkansas in doubles
Ole Miss soon will lose the double point again..i think they are 3-11 then in doubles then over the year...

Mihov getting rocked again today by Ollert down 6-2 5-1 but fortunately for him the team is rolling over Auburn.

South Carolina might actually be better dropping Mihov out. He is a sure loss at this point and Schafer and Koch can handle one spot higher and Swank would be an acceptable #6.

crazy weekend, not the big ones, but auburn and ole miss are clearly falling and both in big danger to miss ncaas
right now only half of sec is really making it, behind vanderbilt everyone is in danger. (no Top45 rankings when new rankings come out tomorrow...only Auburn and South Carolina...but where has auburn this rankings from???) And we ve only 3 teams on top, the rest should not make any noise when ncaas come.

The middle of the sec is getting very tight now...everyone from the 6th to 10th(11th) team can beat everyone

1) UGA easily won vs UK and Vanderbilt, should be fun on Friday at College Station, UGA is dangerous when ncaas come.

2) Texas A&M, beat TCU, will play Rice, Georgia and Tennessee this week !

3) UK i held them behind the Aggies, cause of their easy loss at Georgia, also they ve beaten Kentucky, but UK also has 5 losses overall. Should take care of Auburn and Alabama next weekend

4) Florida easily won vs Auburn and Alabama

5) Vols, again lost 2 games easily at Vanderbilt and vs Kentucky, there should be no way they stay Top20 after all. After Reese everyone is in a slump especially Liebietis. At College Station on Sunday will not change anything.

6) MSU nearly lost to Arkansas and LSU but won both in the end. Team is still a mystery. Will play Ole Miss this weekend.

7) Vanderbilt do not know how they lost vs MSU and Ole Miss in the last week, should not be. This time they easily beat Vols and at least gave Georgia a fight. i leave them behind MSU, cause the Bulldogs did not wrong this weekend and ve beaten Vandy directly. But the 5 6 and 7, is nearly the same right now.

8.) USC, great jump today, after 2 good wins, by the way, their incominc class for Fall2014 is amazing, could make an attack to the Top7 !!! (and losing Senior Mihov will not hurt ....doubleheader from yesterday: . No. 80 Tsvetan Mihov shook off a slow start in the No. 2 match to score a 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 win over Dillon Berkabile.) Play at LSU and at Arkansas next weekend, big-needed-gams for South Carolina

9) Ole Miss, ive jinxed them the week before...i put them much too high, now back to 9....hard win vs Arkansas plus a loss vs bottom LSU..nothing else to say...(suprisingly they lost to 3 teams behind them..could move them down more..but they ve beaten Tenessee and Vanderbilt, a thing no one behind them has done)

10.) Auburn, never had a chance vs Florida and surprisingly SC

11) Alabama , losing to SC. and Florida, things are getting tough now, ve to put them still behind Ole Miss.and Auburn, .Alabama is weaker right now

12) LSU, suddenly sth happened, they are winning since yesterday ! They not played vs Arkansas right now, and after their win yesterday..i ll put them higher.

13) Arkansas , gave both MS' a good fight, but a loss is a loss, and the loss at Ole Miss looks weaker as many think

Ole Miss

Ole Miss will not make the NCAAs if they don't beat Mississippi State. They are playing Jackson State three times tomorrow then the big match against State. Nik Scholtz is playing really well for them and can beat anybody right now. Can't say the same for anyone else on the team. I can't figure out how Lindmark and Backstrom played well on Friday and then extremely disappointing effort on Sunday. They were flat as was most of the team, sans Scholtz. Very bad year for the Rebels. Kallberg tried to give it a go in singles, and did okay in the second set. I don't see the Rebels beating MSU, Florida or Texas A&M and possibly not South Carolina.

3 times? from where is that??? just one game is mentioned on their home page

they not deserve it, they scheduled wrong (should not ve played Baylor and USC this year) better should ve played a Florida roundtrip vs teams like Miami, UCF,USF. i think they really can beat MSU, but it wont be enough, they need 2 wins of this 4 matches or a miracle in SEC Tournament (but as 8th or 9th seed they will meet UGA in 2nd round...so ....)
Scholtz maybe is the best college player, or at least Top5 . He should go pro next season, wasted time at Oxford in my opinion.
The team for itself has too many ups and downs, one day the 3 swedes play awesome and the next day they all play bad...
doubles is a big problem, they are 3-12 or so over the year in doubles :oops: and with that ups and downs in singles you cannot afford to loses doubles every time

Schultz has been on a tear lately and is ready for the tour, do not expect him back next year. Toby will be hurting unless he has a few surprises next year.
I am in shock they lost to LSU that easily, but they had a fight against Arkansas and were lucky to pull it out.
Feel bad for Billy going out this way, regardless of opinions he has done a ton for College Tennis and tennis in general. He is much more relaxed this year.

Chadwick has done his best for OleMiss, i am following this program since 10 years or so
aside of the last weaker years, everything was great

he wanted Karim Hossam, this guy is now Top300 in the world (do not know why he is not playing there now..academics, visas? i do not know)
with him this team would fight Georgia for 1st place in SEC, definetly.)

Future without Scholtz (if he goes pro):
Backstrom is a senior, so also away

Kallberg will to have play 1 next season (not a good idea)
Lindmark will play 2 (also too high for him to play above par)
Gustav Hansson, will immediatley make an impact
Ricardo jorge will be a good 4 i think
Gowda at 5 i ve my problems
Wilder/Rogers are not good enough to win a lot of matches on 6th singles

doubles will be a problem too

so Rebels will need another player who can play 1 or 2 , will be tough....

Maybe someone has posted this, but anyone know why Piro is no longer on the Florida team? I really feel for spencer newman. Last two years have been a disaster for him. Transfer to Michigan doesn't work out, gets injured and hasn't really played this Spring.

Ole Miss tripleheader..what a crap joke...someone in ncaas should forbid this
alone for this this team should not reach ncaas
also i am a great fan of them...but this is so ridicolous...
teams in ncaas should deserve it..and not by this...if ole Miss can beat MSU, South Carolina..okay..but not for tripping up a team...3times...that is much weaker...

yeah thats true.. :)

well they played Jackson State 3 times today, and got 3 wins from it...went 5-10 into day and now are 8-10 in record. But i do not really understand why the ncaa is allowing this...(or why u need the 50-50 rule to be available for ncaas) and i do not understand why a team like Jackson State even is doing this?

What is the 50/50 rule. If it's a win loss ratio of 50/50 wouldn't it have to be 16-8 as an example not 8-16??

Ah ha..I figured it out. It's an even money win / loss. So in Ole Miss's case he now has to win two more matches and then keep themselves at even money.

That's probably the stupidest thing I've ever seen. Playing a really bad team 3 times in one day. How ridiculous is that?

I believe the rule is, to qualify for the NCAA's regardless of your ranking the team needs a .500 record. I think the only way around .500 record rule is if you win your conference. JLyon or ClarkC may know the rule first hand. I predicted Ole Miss would play some weak teams on short notice and not previously on their schedule to shore up their record. Jackson State does not mind because they may still have a chance to win the SWAC outright. It's great practice and they also get to use their SEC matches as recruiting material.

Miami had DII Nebraska-Omaha scheduled for a double-header today but the morning matches got rained out so they only played once. Miami won easily 7-0. But I don't like it either. Glad one of the matches got rained out.

UN-Omaha is D1. Score one in the win column. Same reason, boost the record. I don't hold it against the teams for doing it if that's what the rules dictate and allow.

Whoops you're right. They just moved up a couple seasons ago didn't they? Still have them in DII in my mind.

The Ole Miss-Jackson State match makes a mockery of the whole system and shows how easy it is to game the system. The NCAA either needs to drop the 'better than .500' rule or put rules into place to stop teams doing things like this...

Totally agree. A mid major coach I know told me that he no longer considers these types of matches. Big schools try to sometimes do double headers and stop play after 4 wins decides it.

what a joke was this :oops:
by the way, both coaches managed, that no player have to play another player twice.. :D
getting the lineups changed for every match... :)

Jose Luque played tough, getting a set from jorge, lost another one only 5-7 to Wilder and lost another only 3-6 to Lindmark.

they are playing another DH on May 13th I believe Jack State is one of the teams again and maybe UAPB.

Their women are doing same thing on April 7th, will be shellacked by FL and then play UAPB that late afternoon

it is vs Alcorn State by the mens, do not know if they play only one game or more vs them, Alcorn State was swept away easily by Miss State.

and they play UAPB also, a team that lost 0-7 yesterday vs Alcorn State. They ve only 5 players ! on their roster !!!

oh by the way, Jackson State the team Ole Miss played yesterday BEAT UAPB EASILY !!!

this is the most crappiest thing i ve ever seen..schedule opponents...that cannot play...maybe even i should play vs Ole Miss then??? i should be able to get some game vs the rebels...

LSU and South Carolina playing singles first with rain in the forecast - they've also moved the start time up an hour.

speaking of which, what are everyone's thoughts on that match? It's Georgia's toughest SEC test

Georgia's doubles is as good this year as it has been in a while so having that 1-0 lead to start singles has been nice but with singles being played first that momentum won't be there.

It'll be interesting to see if Manny goes with Pasha at 1 or Austin Smith at 1. I think both 1 and 2 are near tossups though I'd like Smith over Vinsant at 2 if they are matched up. Efferding will probably beat Wagland unless Ben can come out and take the 1st set to get some momentum. I know A&M is expecting a huge crowd tonight and I'd guess that if they are going to harass one player more than the other they'd probably pick on Wagland. Ore/Brasseaux is a toss-up at 4. I like Pieters and Wood at 5 and 6.

I could easily see a 3-3 match heading to doubles which would be a first for an ESPN3 match.

Texas A&M has a good history of pulling some upsets off at home and I'd be surprised if Georgia got the win. Last year Ole Miss tripped us up in Oxford in a tight match and I think A&M will likely do the same tonight. Hoping I'm wrong but we'll see.

Guess who just lost his 1st set 6-2 at #2 for South Carolina. You'd think they'd just keep sliding Mihov down in the lineup until he can get a win. The guys confidence has to be beyond shot after losing 7 of 8 with his only win a 3-setter against the Citadel.
