SEC Tennis

anyone catch write-up on LSU/SC match:
"Penalty at singles match #1 was Schafer (SC #4) celebrating by shanking ball out of the court. Point was awarded to highest-scoring match, which just happened to be court #1 at match point of a tiebreak."

Seriously coding for celebrating?

LSU did get beat down. Just shows you how bad Kentucky and UT are.

Daigle beat Adams 6-2, 7-6. Anyone know the score in the 2nd set TB when Daigle had match point? If it was 6-5, I can understand people complaining. But if it was 6-3, 6-2, or 6-1 in the TB, what's the difference if a point penalty ended the match in a tiebreaker as opposed to a game during the set?

I don't know that Daigle was at match point. Both the LSU recap and the South Carolina recap list the tiebreak score as "penalty." I think it might have been a game penalty on Schafer; perhaps he already had received a point penalty for whacking a ball earlier or something else.

By the way, the LSU recap makes it sound like South Carolina won because the match was played indoors:

The match on Friday took place indoors due to inclement weather in the area. After being at home for eight consecutive matches, the Tigers were ultimately unable to adjust to the different environment.

"As much as we did not want playing indoors to be an issue it was," Brown said. "Our seasons have been exact opposites as far as them playing 75 percent of their matches inside. It is just the way that goes."

The score was 4-1 and likely headed towards 6-1.

Well, if you are going make the quantum leap and say that USC was headed to 6-1 and give them courts 5 and 6 simply b/c they had just won the 1st set when the match was clinched, then Daigle was headed to win his court regardless of the second set TB under your analysis. It certainly didn't look good for LSU on those courts, but court 5 had just lost the first in a TB. Court 6 got smashed in the first, but GT's player lost the first set 6-0 yesterday and turned around and won the second 6-0. So who has a clue as to what would have happened on courts 5 and 6.

And I'm not quite sure what's so hard to understand about Coach Brown's comments. LSU doesn't have indoor courts. Doesn't practice indoors and hasn't played indoors for most of the fall and spring. USC has.

Would USC have probably won outdoors? Probably so. But did the match being played indoors have an affect on the outcome? Don't see how anyone who has played competitive tennis at some point in there life would not agree that a team that plays and practices indoors A LOT wouldn't have an advantage in a match indoors over a team that NEVER does. Coach Brown's comments were simply they would have preferred to play outdoors given the lack of exposure/play indoors. I think that's a fair statement and shouldn't be viewed as a whiny excuse, which your post seems to suggest.

I saw the point penalty to another court rule happen once at a Clemson match. Juan Bolona had just lost at 6 vs Marquette and after match point he launched his racquet out of the stadium. The penalty goes to the adjacent court, Gerardo Meza was the only one still playing at 2 so a full game penalty was assessed to him (Bolona had had other violations) while he was serving 5-3 up. Suddenly the set was back on serve as assisstant coach Boetsch had to explain to him.

Match over very soon in bama s favor
scholtz gets kicked around by Lovett. Who is this guy? John Isner?
Babic chanceless thought he would do better
i ve the big feeling Kallberg had sth serious. ..on the court and the Rest of team could not get over it??

Saw where Scholtz tweeted last night that they were enjoying a meal at Chuck's Fish before today's match. Must have been the fish...lol. That was not a good performance in singles top to bottom, other than Lindmark and Ricardo was winning.

How is Ole Miss losing to Ala "Frickin" Bama?

No one explain this. ..fun fact now Alabama really can try to go to ncaas.

Hmm this was a more Bigger upset as ucla s loss to Tulsa. ..

only thing could be travel reason with this weather and no play in msu pluS a serious injury to Kallberg. The lopsided loss of Scholtz i will not understand. He is top300 atp Level and loses to a unranked Player???

There's no way that Babic should lose to Kenyon in that fashion. Kenyon is one of the worst top 6 players in the SEC.

I really can't explain this. Maybe Kallberg suffered a horror injury and it mentally affected the team, I have no idea.

Okay Clemson_tennis ive to say Sorry to u. Just not my Day.

This loss is just out of the World. Only reason could be a real big injury to Kallberg cause until then scholtz was 2-2 in First and Hansson even break up in First set. After it not the same. Only Lindmark just played on.

hmm After uga and a&m all is Kind of. .hmm. ..

Ole miss vs baylor next. ..After this???

Maybe they got caught looking ahead - I bet they'll be more a lot more focused for the Baylor match.

If hansson wins his First set. .he was break up..the match could ve gone other way but i am real interested about Kallberg news. Season could Fall down now for them even top5 sec real in danger. Top16 and hosting also

It's ok, it's natural to get more testy on here when your team is losing or has list a bad one. I do it too

I take no care if they lose vs baylor next or at uga or at a&m but today i was not ready for this one especially After win in doubles. Then Kallberg retired and all in a sudden they were down and never Came back...and lose three other Singles in two fast sets
