*EDIT* Memphis and Vandy split the singles with 4 wins each. One match finished as a pro-set in favor of Vandy. The #2 court posted late with Vandy taking the match.

What can we expect from the SEC this year?
I think the conference looks something like this:

1. Florida - possible NCAA title

2. Georgia
3. Texas A&M

4. South Carolina
5. Alabama
6. LSU
7. Vanderbilt
8. Miss State
9. Ole Miss
10. Tennessee

11. Arkansas
12. Kentucky
13. Auburn

Georgia has 3 very strong freshman and with Bryde, Henning, and Loeb they can finally go for the title.
Texas A&M seems like a team that will not lose to anyone except Florida and Georgia, but Florida and Georgia will crush them.
Alabama and South Carolina have very good players at the top of the lineup, maybe they can make something out of this season.
Ole Miss could be the surprise of the season as well as Miss State. Both teams have young players.
LSU and Vanderbilt have some experience in their teams. They could have a solid year.
This could be one of Kentucky's worst seasons in a while. The roster looks terrible.

Lots to be determined

I think you are underselling Kentucky here big time.

Agreed 100%

Also, Florida might not win the SEC this year. Florida has to go to TAMU, right after playing LSU on a Friday night. College Station is a very difficult place to play and TAMU team is very good as well this year.

Should be more like Florida at 1, TAMU at 1.5, with Georgia by itself in the next tier and everybody else after that

Definitely a tough away game for the Gators. But, considering they have former top 20 ITF junior players playing 5 and 6, along with guys like Crawford, Riffice, Andrade, and Ingildsen I simply cannot see them losing to any team in the nation, so although I agree that College Station is a tough place to play, the Gators will cruise.

Well, they have their first loss already, but yeah I think there are only a few teams in the nation capable of beating them this year, and I don’t have A&M on that list

Arguably A&M has the tougher match two days earlier and will come into that match with less in the tank

If they put Ingildsen on 3 in that lineup, outcome could be completely different... once the national indoors and SEC start, we'll see how good Gators really are. Pretty much the same team did not lose one match in SEC last year.

Yeah I have no idea why he didn’t play singles vs Texas, I’d guess some minor physical issue they didn’t want to aggravate early in the season but who knows

From my sources, he was listed below Bicknell/Grant on the lineup for that day. Goodger was in top 6, but pulled him after doubles

We we are certainly capable to losing to other teams in the nation since we already lost to Texas on our home courts. And we did lose an SEC match last year, we lost to Tennessee (they are in the SEC) in the semifinals of the SEC tournament.
And we don't have any top 20 ITF players playing 5/6. Crawford, Riffice and Vale were all top 20 ITF and they play 1/2/3.
Good tip, I figured all this our by using the internet, give it a shot sometime.

My two cents. If you are one of the top 5 SEC teams. You can can beat anyone if you can consistently win the dubs point. It’s anyone’s game at the lower positions 4-6. I lean towards experience vs freshman at those spots when the pressure is on.

The fact that I cannot see them losing to any team going further is just my point of perspective emphasizing Florida's strength with full line-up once the serious SEC/NCAA competition matches start which has nothing to do with the already finished matches. Also, I was referring to the SEC Regular Season, thank you for your kind comment. Vale has played before and could play this year again on 5, and I apologize, Lukas Greif (#63) and Will Grant (#76) are the ones I was referring to. Ingildsen also had a win at Wimbledon. My mistake for over-hyping Florida's bottom of the lineup.

AND HOW ABOUT THEM REBELS! HUGE indoors win at Illinois! Great to see Reynolds playing and winning! I am very impressed with the freshmen as well. This could be a great year for Ole Miss!
The Rebels booked themselves a ticket to Wisconsin.

Interestingly, "jerrjones1960" listed Rebels to end up #11 in the SEC. If his prediction is correct, we will have one very strong SEC Conference this year!

Excellent win by Ole Miss on the road and great for the SEC. To be fair looked like Illinois was missing their 5/6 players but injuries are a part of the long season. Would be great if they can win today again.
Too bad about Alabama losing to Dartmouth.
Looks like Ole Miss is better the Memphis again this year.

Another fantastic match by the Rebels, but they came up short in the third set tiebreaker last match on. Big match coming up Friday at home against Oklahoma State. Somehow I don't see them finishing 11th in the SEC, but who knows what will happen between now and then. They will have to stay healthy for sure, because they aren't that deep.

I absolutely agree. IF the Rebs stay healthy then I think we can expect them in the upper half of the SEC. The problem happens if only 1 player gets injured, then Wilson or Rios will have to play and then the Rebels look much weaker. From the first 2 serious matches this year we can already see that the Rebs simply depend on Finn Reynolds.

Maybe, but we won’t know due the the Ole Miss match dogging. In any case Memphis won the last men’s tennis match played at Oxford and beat you in FB and BB this year. #littlebrother

Well I'm a Florida fan so I don't really care who Memphis beat I was just stating the facts based on rankings, I feel like rankings are a good indicator of who is better. And just my two cents but I dont Ole Miss needs to play mid majors like Memphis, so it's hard to blame them for not scheduling you.

Although ranking did not help OM the last 3 losses to Memphis, I generally agree on your ranking point. Many major conference coaches like you agree that if a non P5 school can take you down it’s better to hide from them.

Wow Napoleon complex is too much for you. Just join the SEC already and show us what you got! BTW. The Rebels upset OSU 4-2 with impressive clinch from sophomore Hain on #2.

I’d give you some credit for your response if it wasn’t anchored by ignorance.

You started it by endorsing match dodging. I’d give you some credit for your last response if it wasn’t anchored by ignorance.

Realistically, sometimes it simply does not make sense to play a team like Memphis. The risk and reward for the Rebs simply does not add up to play Memphis. I definitely understand your frustration and that is why I suggest you to start a petition to join the SEC and that way we cannot avoid you and we have to confront you. Think about how many great matches Memphis would play then. Would Memphis be a powerhouse then?? I think so.

They are scheduled for Arkansas, LSU, Vandy and UK. Petitioning the SEC, it doesn’t work that way.

Since you did not appreciate my ignorance, I thought you would appreciate my sarcasm.

Tennessee had a wild win over Duke a couple of weeks ago. Lost doubles point and rallied from a set down on 5 of the 6 courts to win all 6 singles in three sets. Don't see that very often

Tennessee are my nightmare. I never think they are that good but they beat us last year. Not sure how. Wonder if their coaching staff wants to be Gators?

Ole Miss just won the Blue Gray Championship with back-to-back 4-3 wins, first against Princeton and then Alabama, in the championship match. I think they will definitely finish higher than predicted in the SEC.

The Rebs are playing incredible so far in the season!! I also think the SEC ranked them way too low at 11. The Rebs will definitely finish higher than predicted. Still do not see them beating Florida, A&M, Georgia, Tennessee, USC, or MState. As per my prediction earlier, I still have them finishing at 7.

As a Vol fan I’m looking forward to seeing if we can upset you on your home courts again this year. But I think you have the stronger team... But you had the stronger team last year.....

That’s why they beat the Vols 2/3 times last year, yes, Gators had the stronger team

Gators beat you on your own courts on the way to SEC season championship, and ended your season in NCAAs on our courts

That’s nice you won the middle one that didn’t result in either team winning the SEC tourney

Ouch! We were 1pt away from ending your ncaa tourney. Instead our player double faulted and then your guy won the next 2pts. Look forward to this years battle. Let the SEC matches begin! See you in Gainesville in a few weeks!

Yeah, you got bounced 4-2 in the NCAA tourney (in case you need a refresher: https://utsports.com/news/2019/5/11/mens-tennis-tennessee-falls-in-round-of-16-to-florida-4-2.aspx) - it was fun seeing a few of your guys cry on the same courts where they thought they were so cool doing the gator chomp to the crowd a few weeks earlier

Anyway, UF's season was defined by an undefeated SEC regular season title and the NCAA semis last year, not beating Tennessee 2/3 times
It's sweet that you define your team's otherwise forgettable season by their best win against UF

I think they could beat Mississippi State this year if they stay healthy. But the others you mentioned will be difficult to win for sure.

Georgia will jump up near the top 10 with two big wins this weekend.

Alabama got a big win over South Carolina and Kentucky got a much needed ranked win over LSU

Agreed. Georgia is a good team and we missed opportunities to win the dubs point and disappointing play at 1-3. The only way we will beat the top teams will be if we get the dubs point. And then we need better play on the top courts. I expect GA to give you a run but you should beat them.

UF wins dubs point and two pretty easy singles matches to go up 3-1, but this could be A&Ms day if Crawford doesn't step up
Bicknell out playing Davis Cap
Johannes not in singles lineup
lost all three singles tiebreakers so far :(

Goodger comes back from 0-4 in third, gets to 4-5 with three break points to get to 5-5...and promptly yanks a few forehands all over Texas to hand the victory to A&M

now 3-3 with another singles TB coming up, Andrade the one to decide it, will UF go 0-4 on TBs to lose the match?

mikej

Hall of Fame
I don't think I like the final call, Andrade hits what looks like a winner along the sideline closest to the webcam at 7-8 in the TB to drop a 6-7, 6-7 match...but oh well...they probably wouldn't have overruled that if a UF player had made the call in Gainesville either

the singles play by this team, with two exceptions, was pretty uninspired today

big matches with UGA and Tennessee this coming week, to keep hopes of a repeat SEC league title alive
