Secret Yonex racquet made for Mikhail Youzhny.

Hello, my friends!
Today i have new portion of secrets from top level tennis.
Not long ago i showed you my collection of Mikhail Youzhny personal Head racquets. And now I've added another frame to this collection. Now I have 5 (FIVE!!!) different racquets that belonged to one of the best Russian players in this century. That's my collection.


So, what is the new racquet in this collection? Not many tennis fans (even nerds) know that japanese tennis giant Yonex was trying hard to lure Youzhny from Head. They knew his Head history, as Youzhny started to play in ATP Tour with PT112 aka i.Radical Oversize and then from 107 headsize he went to 100 in PT161 aka Liquidmetal Instinct Midsize. So guys from Yonex made a smart decision to offer Mikhail their racquet with 102 headsize. Yonex made 6 these racquets specially for Youzhny and the racquet with no 1 - is in my collection!




On sticker you can read - for M.Youzhny.
But Youzhny stayed firm and with Head and didn't repeat Marat Safin's unforced error who left Head after Dunlop offered him 1 million in a year. Soon Safin returned to his favorite PT10 Head mold. And even today uses it while coaching Andrey Rublev in Head Prestige Classic 2.0 model.

Just to correct your mistake. The Prestige Classic 2.0 is from the TK237 mold that Safin is using to coach Rublev.

No, You’re wrong. The PC2.0 is a new layup and is not 237.1. It’s code is retail TGK237.3. For retail there was only TGK237.1 for the MG Prestige Mid, TGK237.2 for the YT Prestige Mid, and now TGK237.3 for the new PC2.0. For Pro stock you had TGK237.1 for MG Prestige Mid, TGK237.2 for MG Prestige Mid in 16x19 string pattern, and then TGK and Swicth to TGT237.3 for YT Prestige Mid.

Hardly. But I like to be wrong, cause then it's your time)) So Safin never used TGK237.1 (Microgel Mid)? I thought that in the beginning of 2008 he went from PT10 to TGK237.1...

I never said that. I just said that the PC2.0 is NOT 237.1. Safin switched to the MG Prestige Mid 237.1 in 2008. You just cannot understand what I’m sayin and then you call me toxic and have other poster call me derogatory names. I suggest you get a new AI translator.

You’re the one that brought Safin with incorrect info when talking about Youzny and not me. I have nothing to add about the Yonex prototype racket other than it looks like a bigger RD-27. Yonex has always been going after male players. They are getting more traction these days.

Sad. But that is not a real tennis forum. First of all that's a Game of Thrones forum. First of all - to protect and to fight in the name of ego. To discuss tennis part of a question - not so important.
Actually this is Mikhail Youzhny racquet thread, but from 16 comments how much dedicated to the racquet of Mikhail Youzhny))

I wonder how close Youzhny got to signing on the dotted line with Yonex, and how much influence Marat was as a cautionary tale?

The prevailing image of Youzhny for me will always be him playing with the different Extreme paintjobs. Really liked the way they looked, particularly the solid yellow ones (circa Youtek era).

Is PT10 considered a mold or layup. And what are the differences between the mold of PT10 and TGK237.1. On paper they look very close, but i'm assuming there are very minor differences.

TGK237.1: Microgel Prestige Mid 18x20
TGK237.2: Microgel Prestige Mid 16x19
TGK237.3: Youtek Prestige Mid 18x20 (you clarified TGT237.3 is Youtek Prestige Mid, TGK237.3 is PC2.0)
TGK237.4: Youtek Prestige Mid 18x20 (guessing Schuttler and Sloane's mids were TGTs, then)

Let me fix this for you, you don’t seem to understand.
TGK237.1 is retail and pro stock MG Prestige Mid
TGK237.2 is Pro Stock MG Prestige Mid 16x19.
Pro Stock TGK237.3 is Pro Stock YT Prestige Mid. This why they changed to TGT237.3.

Retail Prestige Classic 2.0 is TGK237.3. It’s confusing and it’s like when they changed 98 Prestige from MP to Pro.

There is no TGK237.4. Rainer and Sloane used as far as I know TGK237.2 which was 16x19 in YT Prestige Mid paint.

PT10 is a code for a racket. The mold is TK10. There are diffidences in the grommet channel. If you take a Prestige Classic 600 and a Microgel Prestige Mid and cold then side by side you’ll see the difference

As i have information, not even close! But Yonex wanted this transfer very badly! I'm sure Safin story wasn't on his mind when all this story was on a line.

I use the Head Prestige Classic 2.0
 
This Yonex reminds me of the RD Power 10 that Rios used (and the Woodies for a very short lived period), I remember they made Mark Woodforde some with that super open string pattern he used, and he cam from the HiTen OS to them, so he might have been using this 105 head size as well? I know around this time RD27/RD23 were both 105s as was the SRQ500/300 that the Williams sisters used

As I have the information it's a 102 headsize, and i believe this racquet came from approximately 2003

It's actually the mold for the Yonex Ultimum RD Ti-50. I have it in my closet and it's the same plastic head guard from the OP pic. It was the dark green/silver racquet that Hewitt and Dementieva endorsed back in the early Y2K.

Yonex Ultimum RD Ti-50 has 95 headsize, this Youzhny racquet, as i was informed - 102

That's interesting if true. Considering how long have pros been using first gen ProStaffs and Prestiges, even recently. If it works, it works.
