Self rated - How many matches to be computer rated?

Hi, I'm a self rate on a 3.5 18+ men's team this season. Because the team has so many strong players, my captain only played me in 2 matches. Will I be eligible for a proper computer rating at the end of the year? When I google minimum matches to be computer rated, it seems like I need 3 matches. But my captain told me that I only need to play 2 matches this year to get a computer rating. Anyone know? I'm playing USTA in Washington. Thanks

My captain is adamant that I only need two matches for a computer rating though, and he is obsessive with USTA leagues. So I'm not really sure what to believe

The simple answer is your captain is wrong, it is required that you play three matches to get a year-end computer rating. If you don't, you'll remain self-rated for 2023. But you found that yourself like @Cashman said so I'm not adding much.

The reason for my reply is to let you know all is not lost. While three matches are required and you only have two, there may be ways for you to get the third match. Depending on your section, other leagues may count for year-end ratings, or if your section has early start leagues for 2023 this Fall playing in one of those can get you the third match. Additionally, if you live in a section where tournaments are included in year-end ratings a combination of two league matches and a sanctioned tournament match will get you a year-end C.

Wow, thank you for this info! I will try and find a 3.5 tournament then and play that. Do you know if the "One Doubles" league also counts? I live in Washington

I'm from Washington too.

Yep, One Doubles counts, so just play a few matches in that league and you should get a year-end computer rating.

Will the two matches carry over to next spring league? Meaning will one more match in the spring of 2023 get him the minimum of three?...or does it start over?

My understanding is that it starts over for the 2023 rating year if he doesn't play more and get a 2022 year-end C.
