Seniors lounge (over 50) come on in.

Full compression suit? Isn’t it difficult playing when your dressed up like a mummy? I hope when I get old I don’t have to go full compression. Lol

I’ve found with aging the off court training is more important than on court. If I train enough off court as in CrossFit and weight training then I have no problems playing injury free. But I have to admit that the training is a chore and not near as fun as playing, but I enjoy playing so much that it’s worth it. Plus I don’t yet have to get in a mummy suit.
Glad to hear your limbs and joints are still going. Might as well been a body suit ... both hamstrings and both calves ... sleeved up. I have been playing in the 45-55 temps, and put one of the hamstring sleeves on the other day thinking it would keep the muscles warm. Forgot how tight it was ... have just played in warm-up bottoms instead (sweats on colder days). I do CouchFit ... probably similar.

One upside of hitting your 50s yes what constitutes a workout is getting pretty small.

I spent 30 minutes on the wall practising take backs on both wings and I was sweating
I am finding out that my ligaments in the knee is Super stiff when I wake up................ that was Scary,,,,,this morning......I almost fell over....... it never happened to me before. how do I fight this ?

Do some exercises before you get outta bed. I typically do torso rotations 100 each side, some crunches, leg lifts. Makes a yuge difference.

Lost 5-7, 3-6 tonight. Feel ok. Calf slightly sore. Didn't cramp. Match was 2 hours. Lower back discomfort now. Middle back out. Need to go see chiropractor tomorrow.

Not too many errors for 1st match after almost 8 months.
i play like crap after a 1w hiatus. no chance i’d play a match after a few months hiatus, let alone close to a year.

i’d end up just pushing the ball to make it a match (else spray the back fence)... then i’d hate myself after for only being able to play that way.

hehe I have those portable massage thingies (for back) in my car. every time I play I use it for 20 min on the way home. best thing i’ve boughtt in a while.

I’m just giving you a hard time. I think I’m lucky to have pretty good genetics and strong joints. But I’m sure that all the training I do helps me stay on the court. Now that I’m retired I have more time to exercise and get more rest which makes a big difference.

Also moonballing is not as hard on the joints.

The massage balls are from Thailand?

Cashed half of my feasting lisence today by skating in the morning and 2 hrs tennis practice in a group.

Tomorrow the other half from 5 pm to 9 pm as I’ll go play in a X-mas ham comp. Four games doubles with changing partner after each match.

The bpm monitor might suggest 78 hrs recovery time, that’s why I don’t use one.

Happy holidays!

Damn lucky, we did not win the ham. It was frozen, and only two days to x-mas dinner. Would be ready day after...

I’ve been there, melting a ham too late in a bath tub. Doesn’t do good for the meat. Need to have a thermometer, cause you don’t want to cook it frozen.

Instead of turkey we have tradition of having cooked ham with gravy and casseroles of different root crops, potato, rutabaga, carrot and liver as well sometimes for Christmas.

The potato casserole is sweet and salty. Kind of marinated.

Had to give Santa a helping hand. In the back you find the bottom of a Bosh washingmashine for my son’s new home.

And for refreshments-wise here is a good recipe for jolly X-mas, unless any of you have the R-word (Rumpus) written in the bottom...

Wrist recovery is coming along well. Finally filmed some of my strokes, boy what a wake up call! I knew my fh was bad but not this bad - open up way too early, no extension, no kinetic chain, bad follow through. Bh looks pretty good like I suspected. I know an opponent is smart if after a few games he hits everything to my fh lol.

Ordered a flexible tripod to put on the fence so I can get some video from behind so I can get some good tips on the fh. Hopefully the rain will end soon and I can post up some better vid next week.

Here's some groundstrokes from some warmup/games from a couple days ago (still haven't tried serving with the wrist yet).

Don’t you worry, it is not a style game and they don’t count tech merrits into the score!

I gather that’s from co-operative rallying, while this is from bucket feed drill. We are in the same freaking boat, friend!

I started my boot camp day before yesterday. Four weeks ahead and another four to six to build up stamina and cardio.

March has a stamp on it being the dicipline oriented power period and April will be prepareing for the competition season. On Spanish turf getting my short game together for the comp season starting in May.

I think the first couple were warmup the rest were from groundstroke games (which are fairly cooperative).

Are you talking about boot camp for golf? I thought that consisted of beer and cigars? :p

Speaking of comp season, I'm getting emails from BNP Paribas...can't believe the Indian Wells tourney is almost here! Can't wait!

Yeah, my quest for scratch and the 50+ ntl team is on it’s way. The scratch is not even a requirement here, but it is my inner drive. Jul 22 is the target date to be at the top-5 of the OOM.

And for the record to set things into perspective. The top golfers nowadays are athletes as well.

Well, after a few years of injuries and old person issues I am finally getting back to 4.0 tennis. Well, I mean I am back in a 4.0 league, if'n I can play at a 4.0 level still remains to be tested. Play my first match tonight and only goal is to be at least be able to compete well. Been feeling better movement and health wise, so I am kinda excited to get back to it. Also started back with fitness training this last week. I think I need to moderate myself because I don't want to overdo everything, but hard to not wanna push a little bit.

Anyway, cheers all. Let's keep at least TRYING to improve!

Which ones please?

I'm thinking of getting some, since I have a displaced disc (old basketball injury) and I'm all hunched over after tennis + having a hard time relaxing to lay straight on my back on the floor afterwards.

Besides stretching and so forth, probably movement in general, even playing tennis more often would help.

Heck I had a sports injury doctor (specialized in knees and back and tennis player himself apparently) asked me how come I don't have pains in my knee, when in shows calcification (behind the rotula)?

Also probably omega 3 (pills and sardines etc), small aspirin, glucosamine (mainly for meniscus and possible spine as well), multi vitamins, vitamin B and D etc?

I am going to buy this one. tightness is kind of same thing as spasms. is this like Heat application or vibration messaging type of application ?
has heat... and those rolly things.
then you need to position your body such that it hits the spot.
also need to relax your muscles and let the rollers dig in. when i get it right it hurts in a good way.

Does this also work while sitting on the sofa of your livingroom or does it only work in Car seat ??

Let’s hope the inflated neck support is not too much of a help nor comfort...

I’d hate to see Chael hitting balls turning his head as his shoulders.

I’d recommend an Omron TENS for spasms. It has adjustable force and quite a range of different programs to loosen the muscles.

Used to use it daily on my playing arm, when bowled throwing 40’000 shots a winter.

Interesting. I had a C5/C5 compression and impingement issue and it has been heck to recover from. Caused a lot of issues in my tennis play because how it also effect rotator cuff and nerves, so I am starting down trying some of these things. Chiro firend mentioned the inflatable (he calls it the puff cuff) to start for stretching and releasing the pressure. Hoping I don't have to go to far cuz I have seen some of those $500+ crazy contraptions you strap your head in and it conorts you around.
