Seniors lounge (over 50) come on in.

I guess I'm late to the party. I just turned 51 this year. Tennis has decreased for me as I've gotten older. I still hit with 4.5 guys and try to get out once a week. Mostly play doubles as my singles game has declined mainly due to being out of shape. My play style used to be get to the net ASAP but now I play more of an all court game. Rely on my serve, as typically I have an advantage there due to being a lefty, can place it well, and can hit all of the spins. My racquet is the Head Radical MP (the bright orange and silver one).

Some of my other hobbies are piano, bowling, golf, spectator sports, and board games. Piano and bowling I'm pretty good at, golf not so much (only get out on the course about 5x per year and never taken lessons so is probably some part of it). A good round for me is breaking 90.

Drinks: mostly into craft beer, favorite styles are IPA, Belgians (except for the overly sour ones), Smoked, Stouts, Pilsners, Barleywines. Pretty much most styles across the board except for the overly sweet sugar bombs. I do enjoy a good scotch, whiskey, or bourbon on occasion, but it must be higher in quality without breaking the bank.

recent game style change makes me wonder how many hours guys play per week? them call me the beast as I am out everyday 1.5 hours, after switching to playing more front court it's been 2hours per day for the last 3 weeks... gosh tennis is fun again...

Any fave local breweries?

There are a couple where I live. Forager and Little Thistle are the best around me. Surly has always been a favorite of mine up in the twin cities. Toppling Goliath in Iowa is somewhere I need to visit, but their high end beers seem to sell for ridiculous prices.

Long time - no see, and no sea, guys!
Into tennis still and we got some reinforcement into our league team (M55+) and have now won two rounds in a row, yet I got spanked in my game of the two’s game. Our #1 won by poor performance last time I was in the roster and the third player chimed in to grind a victory in the doubles. Looking good so far.

My tennis as allways, since 13 years ago has been mostly apalling, just two tournament wins and basically a lost match every time I go out on the court. Unable to move properly and hitting it late, not seeing the ball and what not. Even my serves, that used to be a weapon I tend to hit eyes closed.

Anyway tennis aside, golfing going fine. Forfeighted my amateur status and dream of becoming a national team player in the European Championships. Now, since June a non-amateur, ie. pro in golf and taking a vocational education course to become a professional coach. Coaching a group of five players, two comp seniors and three others, who are really good club golfers. And on the side my handicap dropped again and now at all-time-low spelling 1.7.

Due my physical restrictions, cannot play and practice tennis as I would like to, but goin on the court is allways fun. Hopefully, I can win few matches this season and overcome the trouble of hitting the furry yellow ball eyes closed.

Geezers, living basically my dream at 57!

Started studying in a vocational education course last August in professional coaching.

Now in Spain for five weeks funded by ERASMUS+ programme due the studies. Have a five weeks on-site practice with a club where people are really co-operative and made me feel wery welcome.

This could work in tennis as well, but I think people are not awere of this chance.

i had a league match yesterday and i felt totally down and slow, NO energy and was moving like a turtle. I had to drive 1 hour to get to the match site and that really did me in. Is there anything i can do when i get there to get my energy back before the match starts ??
I also ate the entire medium Domino's pizza with sausage and pepperoni,,, that morning 3 hours before the match,, not sure if this is what did me in ?? as far as energy being so low ?

Of course you were running out of energy.
You should have finished the whole pizza, half an hour before the match. Try that next time.

I think 3 hrs should have been enough time but I prefer eating a pizza after playing. How many calories in a Dominoes medium size pizza? I used to eat one whole medium pizza a few hrs after dinner if I was staying up late and still hungry.

Had three medium Little Caesars pizzas for lunch Saturday. Then kids raided the fridge that night and ate the last one. Missed my fav, cold pizza!

Take Vitamin B100 (or B12 whatever) and D1 the evening before.

I also had to drive 1 hour to get to the match site and my lower back was killing me when i got there due to sitting in the car for so llong. That may have played a role as well. What is the best way to counteract this stiffness due to driving so long ? Only think i can think of is Back stretches but it doesn't help as much as i want it to.. i tried it before.

Voltaren. It just helped me (but only after I remembered about it), when driving a week, daily, in Morocco, two weeks ago (and I have a displaced disk, due to a basketball injury).
I also have one those car massage machines, never used it. Besides in Morocco, it was a rental with poor seats and very tense driving, such as in Marrakesh (where scooters are like wasps, going from all directions. Try rue El Gza or Jaama F'na- the central market in medina).

I was there some years ago playing at the Royal club, it’s a great place but traffic is like you describe it.

Whelp, haven't played since Mid March'ish still with elbow and neck/shoulder issues. Decided to take some time off to work on overall flexiblity and a few other things, all while letting things heal a bit. SOOOO fricken tough to not play. Miss it!

Tore my rotator cuff for the third time in an auto accident. Decided to practice my serve......................................first serve flew over the fence, second into the net. There was no third.

turned 51 this year, interested to gauge how everyone's game is holding up later in life...if you played at a pretty high level earlier on, anyone still competitive against a good high school, maybe d3 college player? i am almost certain i'd take out my younger self pretty handily, stayed in very good shape, no doubt better shot selection these days (i was a go for broke idiot back in the day), and although i don't think i can hit quite hit the mph's i used to, my placement and 2nd serve are without question better.

it's encouraging that if you can stay truly fit, imo you don't really lose the strokes if you play with decent consistency...that off-the-mark explosiveness though definitely fades a bit, not much to be done about that.

Sorry dude. That sucks. Are you getting surgery? Can you rehab?

Good luck with the recovery and very sensible to focus on that. Must be frustrating not to play, hopefully enjoy watching the clay swing until you’re 100% again.

Bummer man. Hope you heal up soon. Doing my best to fit in on todays internet, I recommend a hoodie. I seem to have no issues like that it HAS to be the hoodie.

I had major back issues and was able to fix that so let me know if you have back issues.
