BS.
Federer is facing against the two toughest rivals(Nadal & Nole) in history. No tier 1 great player has ever have to deal with 2 greater players. Navratilova had only one tier 1 great(Chris Evert), Borg had few great rivals but none are a tier 1 great. Sampras had Agassi but he's a tier 2 great, Serena doesn't have any tier 1 great rival.

You're putting Djokovic in tier 1?

And wait a minute what about Serena's own generations?

She had to deal with her sister, Henin, Davenport , Capriati who won two slams, Hingis who won several,

That's 4 world number one players right there( I don't think Jcap was ever world number one)

Also, Martina didn't have Graf in the prime of her own career, but she surely had Graf to deal with late in her career while she was still relevant at slams

So yes,she had to deal with two tier 1 greats

I'm not sure how you can argue with the facts...

24 slams > 23
1 CYGS > 0 CYGS

If you try to argue Court won in a weak era, then the weak era lowers Serena beneath Graf (as well as less dominance, no Calendar golden slam).
Well if you want to go by avatars, forget Court and Serena: your idol is the Queen GOAT. :)

And much as I like Venus, has she won a tournament at 37?
Although, Serena Williams is a different breed, so I wouldn't count it out. But I would think as a new mother, and given her age, her priorities will change.
Different that who, Venus? How 'bout the exact same breed...
Serena won't even want to play after this.

Pretty sure capriati was number 1 and she won 3 majors around the early 00's

She did - AO twice, Epic French once.
She was also one of the few that played well against Serena.
If memory serves, she did less well against Venus.

Edit: Serena Williams leads the H2H 10-7
But Capriati has the lead in majors 4-3.

Surprisingly, Venus Williams only played Capriati 4 times, winning all of them.
3 of the 4 matches involved tiebreakers.

Well considering serena will miss wimbledon this year and venus turns 37 before then i think her chances are looking pretty well at the moment
It'd be great if Venus could win Wimbledon. But it's a big 'if' to win that many matches. That said, I'm not sure any one else has more chance. I think luck will play a big part this year - we may have a Bartoli type result.

Nastase has a history of making racist statements. He referred to Ashe with the n-word years back.
Hopefully the tennis authorities will give Nastase a life-time ban from tennis.
I read the link.
What did he say that was racist ? Did he say coloured people were inferior ?
Nastase did indeed say/imply that 'coloured' people are inferior.

And Sharapova's return is something of a sports headline.
edit: that part which is not important :)
What did he say? Your a bit more sensitive than others so it could be nothing. Its hard to find his old comments with todays story
.
I guess you're just not concerned enough to find out for yourself. Indeed, you have expressed support for Nastase elsewhere.
Not taking any sides here but when it comes to Nastase I do recall a story about when he paired with Arthur Ashe in the WCT Doubles Championships (Lamar Hunt-sponsored, which had a nice payday attached to it). . Anyway, they came out to play their opening match with each of them wearing different shirts whereupon they were advised by the officials that "as a team" they were required to wear matching outfits. . Nastase at that point ducked back into the locker room and came back out minutes later (here's the 'punchline') in Al Jolson-esque blackface...like, really *****' funny Ilie..

Ashe if I recall correctly gave him a pass saying that it was Nasty's irreverent humor at play (or more likely imho another moment in the life of Ashe's many "days of grace").

Nastase was always a tool.

Meldonium has no effect on performance whatsoever, so the post-ban Maria will be the same as the unjustly banned one.

WADA's only stated reason for banning it was that people were taking the two dollar legal 'medicine' thinking it was such.
I don't know what's with your Maria-the-martyr tack Bartelby (though I suspect her Russkie lineage has something to do with it) but fwiw, look on the bright side comrade:

if it weren't for that ban her head-to-head record vs. Serena Williams would've ended up even more one-sided and hardly the glaring statistic that a future HOF'er would want to walk into the Newport Casino with hanging around her (illegal substance-imbued) neck. :)

"...holder of 5 grand slam titles and sporting a 2-19 head-to-head
record vs. Serena Williams....will you please welcome our latest inductee...."

The ITF "investigating" is all PC. Nastase said it and that's just him and his off color humor (pun intended) or it was somehow lost in translation. If Serena isn't making a big deal out of it, neither should the ITF. Nothing happened to Hingis when she insinuated Mauresmo was manly.

I think the ITF indirectly suspended him for his comment citing prior Fed Cup behavior as the reason. I don't think what he said was bad enough for a suspension and it could have been overturned in arbitration.

There's a big difference between his insensitive remarks and what the likes of Jimmy the Greek and Donald Sterling have uttered which left no doubt about their racist intent.

The ITF should have stayed out of it like when Hingis called Mauresmo a man or when Ferrer yelled at a mother and her baby in the stands and the infant cry.

The Nastase incident is directly comparable to Jimmy and Sterling and has nothing in common with Hingis and Ferrer.

Great news for one of three tennis legends on tour. She's living a great life and will share that with her child.

..only losers who failed to do their job. Meanwhile, I expect Kerber to continue to live up her obvious talent.

"Out?" No one said she's retiring. In fact, I expect her to return and show her usual superiority over most of the field.

In related news, a familiar, vile fool has attacked Serena:

Romanian Fed Cup captain under fire for questionable Serena Williams comments

That was not some "cute" comment. He's lived long enough to know the full implication of his words. Disgusting, but unfortunately, he's not alone in making sickening comments of that kind.
If Kerber is continuing "to live up to her talent" it does rather raise the question what that talent is judging by her results this year. :)
Has she actually beaten any one in the Top Ten, Top Twenty this year? Has she won a tournament this year? Thus far, 2016 is looking more like she actually exceeded massively expectations and said talent.
