Won the first set but could not close it out against someone who has been out for years.
Sad!

The last person to beat Azarenka? Venus :p

And the person who beat Venus in the first round at USO, Muchova, ended up losing to Azarenka in the round of 16.

It kind of shows you that Venus is at a good level atm - she beat Azarenka not that long ago, and she was a tough out for Muchova, who had a big run at USO.

Father time remains undefeated. Quite simply Father Time is the GOAT.

I just cannot believe how Serena's opponents don't run her from pillar to post. She looks like she has terrible fitness at the moment and her speed is non-existent.

The FO will be even more of a challenge to win her 24th GS single title then U.S. Open. Serena has owns home in Paris, so she will “at home” during her matches!

The fact Serena is making deep runs into slams at 39 shows us that she's going to contend for big titles as long as she keeps fit and healthy.

Vika's backhand was on fire vs Serena and her movement was as good as I've seen her in years.

is she playing the French? I don't see her making it even to the SF in Paris, let alone winning it.

Even at 4-18, Azarenka gave serena fight a lot of these matches.
And the biggest difference between Azarenka and others were that she was not intimidated by Serena. The earlier serena used her skill to beat her but the present serena is 39 years old and more vulnerable

Ha ha. Gone are those days when she can win french.
She has no chance in French now. You need to run a lot, no free points on serve. It's as good as over.
Her next good chance is Australia and biggest chance at Wimbledon

Forgot to mention,
Serena played Azarenka in night, after atleast 3 matches in daylights.
That means slower conditions and her serve no longer the potent weapon it was

The cooler, less humid, nighttime temperatures favor the elderly.

18-4 doesn't convey the big picture.
Could have easily been 12-10 if only Vika had the ability to hold it together till the end when she was younger.
Blew so many matches from winning positions.
Serena came back and took those matches away....nothing was handed to her. That's why she is the better player.

Thats a very generic statement. In Serena's case she needs faster conditions for those aces and service winners, and the faster rally shots.
And in night visibility also decreases a bit

Why do you think Serena didn't play at night in 3rd,4th and QF. She was the star palyer. But she asked for day time matches.
