Rafa's OCD

yes, he did, but he quickly had to say that Osaka's coach was coaching on EVERY point, and then he brought Rafa into the conversation.

Serena is such an immature person. So embarrassing for her. But most of all, Osaka was robbed of her moment. I feel for her so much.

all sorts of "what about" from him and Serena. "what about" is the desired tack of anyone in an untenable position.

You should see bullsheet on social media calling Serina brave for dealing with the bad call.
Are you talking about Twitter? Twitter is where intelligent discussion goes to die so wouldn’t be surprised.

This is like the 20th time that Chrissie E. has said that EVERY player gets coaching. shut up Chrissie

Serena was a total ***** and the whole world got to see it up close and personal. "Every year this happens to me!" boo hoo!

Now Mary Jo is saying "Serena is so passionate" I am going to barf.

Osaka was robbed of her moment. This is shameful

Calling an umpire a thief and demanding an apology over and over again is verbal abuse. Did it warrant a warning? I think so. Unfortunately as soon as you say it warrants a warning it’s a game penalty for a third warning.

Players have to know they can’t keep racking up warnings. You shut up when you are walking on thin ice. You don’t break your racquet when you have a code violation already.

Stupid all around performance.
Cibulkova got 2 code violations and didn't get a point penalty in her match against kerber?

And saying someone stole a point from you isn't verbal abuse. How is asking for an apology verbal abuse? Can you listen to yourself. We've had many player do much worse numerous times and yet don't get anything. Or players rack up 3 violations and don't get a game penalty

Rightfully. But I don't know what analogy you are trying make. Cibulkova in her match against kerber got 2 violations and didn't receive a point penalty. Yet Serena says the umpire stole a point penalty from her and she gets a game penalty? Are you kidding me?

Dude. What are you talking about? She verbally berated the chair and questioned his integrity repeatedly after he CORRECTLY gave her a warning for coaching. Despite her righteous indignation, her coach admitted it was coaching. Whether the abuse warranted a game or not, alleging that she simply said "thief" under her breathe is disingenuous. You can debate if the penalty was appropriate on that stage (probably not), but the behavior was out of line. That's the risk you take when you keep pushing the line. I wouldn't let my kids act like that. ( I too have a daughter.)

By the rules it should have been a point penalty against Cibulkova. Are we going to argue that umpires shouldn’t follow the rules?

did you give any code violations to the soccer players? Just kidding.
Actually I did have to doc sportsmanship points to the winning team.
First, warning to the coach for stacking her team, they won 12-2...in AYSO the rules state that if you’re leading by a lot you must rearrange the on field team so that it’s more fair. Essentially, make it fun for all players.
Second, all the parents were laughing when the losing team made errors. One parent said, “gosh, those girls are so bad.”

Ramos was a joke. For those who are quick to support Ramos by saying Serena's coach admitted he coached, her coach also said that this goes on in every tournament. Everyone watching that game, including the announcers, could see that Serena wasn't looking at her coach when he was sending the hand signals. Even on the 3rd game conduct violation, he got too sensitive and takes a game away in a close Grand Slam finals for calling him a thief? C'mon.

Serena is a drama queen. No doubt. Ramos seemed like one himself too today.

Kids sports bring out the worst in the adults. My son played roller hockey and the parents were crazy.

Again, even if you dont like serena, you are literally a scared little girl if you side with this “typical american cop” referee.

It’s consistent. Every player that has broken a frame has received a warning. And this follows the point penalty for subsequent violations.
The question isn't about receiving a warning after racket breaking. I'm asking about over-officiating in general. Because there was a point in the match where she received a game penalty for saying the umpire was a thief. I don't think anyone has ever gotten even a warning for something like that before. And you can go back to 2004 when umpires were over-ruling calls on the opposite side of the court, and then foot faults in grand slam finals. I mean, I've never seen things like that happen before in grand slam finals, except at the US Open -- to Serena Williams. Does that not seem like a pattern?

I've never cared for Serena because she is a total diva, it's always all about her. I watched the whole match and her behavior tonight should be embarrassing to her, but I doubt it will. The chair umpire was totally justified in his actions. If she didn't want the consequences of breaking the rules, she shouldn't have broken the rules. And then to pull out the sexism card? Seriously? The way she acted tonight is exactly why I always root for her opponent no matter who it is. Rather than the ump owing her an apology, she owes *Osaka* an apology for ruining this special moment for Osaka.

Not enough officiating or enforcement of actual rules. Nadal is another culprit who gets away with murder.
If that's true, then that just begs the question of if the over-officiating is targeted to Serena? I mean if she is getting called on things that he's not, that's kind of an inconsistency isn't it?

I have never seen drama like that before in any sport ever - who said women's tennis is boring?

Credit must go to the Umpire - Serena gave him a non stop verbal bollocking / bashing for must have been close to a minute or more.

Absolutely disgraceful conduct by Serena exposing her true character.

To Naomi - never seen a female player counter the awesome power of Serena that well before.

Samantha Stosur bullied Serena for power in the final once before - but that was by getting in with the first hit in the rally. This was a bit different. Naomi was hitting Serena's aggressive groundies with equal if not more pace, unbelievable!

Serena should be banned from the ATP Tour for her disgraceful rant towards the Umpire.

The most appalling rant I've ever heard by any player to a match official in the history of this sport.

I question the game penalty too. I don't question the first two.

Not really, you get coaching violations all the time, ask Nadal. But after getting them, the player doesn't go ballistic like Serena did.

Naomi can probably still get into Masa, NYC's most expensive restaurant, to celebrate tonight if she showers quickly and heads for Manhattan. Chef Masa apparently has more than 90 percent of his fish flown in daily from Japan.

Mary Jo, Chrissie and Pam are talking now like Serena was wronged. Someone needs to say 1. Pat Mo coach and Serena saw it, 2. she smashed her racket, and 3. she went ballistic on the umpire, berating hime and calling him a thief. All 3 violations were legit. Could you image if this were the NFL. An NFL umpire would make all 3 calls and if the player gave them more lip, they would be ejected from the game. Serena lost it and all the wrong she suffered was because of her own behavior.

NK got a warning and a fine for his water bottle gestures (simulating masturbation).
Nadal received a coaching violation warning at IW in 2013 or 14.
Ryan Harisson has gotten warnings and point penalties for unsportsmanlike conduct.
I’d say it’s consistent.

Chris Evert just said the chair umpire took away Serena’s ability to fight for the match. Didn’t she have 2 1/2 sets to fight for the match? Chrissie take off the Serena rose colored glasses, your girl crush was getting bundled !

I’ve not heard a player call a ref a thief. They usually just argue without name calling. Probably because name calling gets you a warning these days.

Refs used to get abused relentlessly in the 80’s. They brought on rules like this to curb that. Sadly entitled narcissists like Serena think they are above that.

Naomi, class. Serena, azz. no more needs to be said.

Yea, I like Naomi. I hope she can mature to the point where she is a little more relaxed but she seems like a great kid. She deserved to win. She outplayed Serena from beginning to end. Too bad Serena went ballistic.

Horrible NY crowd acting like Serena was wronged. Serene deserved every violation.

Then be consistent with the rules.

Anywayy problem isn't really with the first 2 violations but the Gampe penalty was absolutely atrocious officiating.

By the time of her complaining, Osaka didn't really have her "moment" yet. So Serena wasn't ruining much IMO.
