Serious question: why do pegula and Navarro have sponsors?

Seriously, there is no need for any kind of sponsorship and they could donate all of their entire life winnings to charity and still be better than 99.9% of everyone. Financially that is. So why not just put your favorite art work or designer or music artist on your clothing and we mix and match accordingly?

First of all, how do we know what they are doing with their money? Maybe they are giving it away to charity.

Second, they both have rich and powerful fathers, but how do we know if daddy is sharing his wealth?

Third, as adults, don't you think they'd like to earn their own cash? Why rely on someone else for handouts if you can make millions on your own?

That is not the way the wealthy think. Nobody turns down millions. Nobody. Not even billionaires.

A citizen once lent J. Paul Getty, the world's richest man, a dime to make a phone call.
Citizen: "It's only a dime. Don't have to pay me back".
J. Paul Getty: "Nonsense. That is one year's interest on a Dollar!"

Boom, boom and boom!

My apologies that the developmentally arrested adolescents that populate this board and whose self-worth is tied to a professional tennis player nuked my ticket prices thread just as my fav Raul joined to add his always insightful commemts.

I think it’s on the “star” player. If Egg or Charlie were around I don’t see the market tanking. There just isn’t much interest in Carrot. He’s a nice kid but he’s boring AF. Even his doping intrigue doesn’t get any attention.

If there's no story, the absence of a story becomes the story. Once you rack up a few slam titles, interest will generate itself. To quote Dr. Ian Malcolm, "Life, eh, finds a way." Ivan Lendl also lacked charisma. Unfortunately for him, he was perceived as bland and unpleasant, as opposed to bland but pleasant in Sinner's case. But that didn't prevent Lendl from making the cover of Sports Illustrated (back when this was a really big deal in the sports world) with the infamous headline, "The Champion That Nobody Cares About."

Your thread got deleted? Why???

The obsession with the parents is getting a bit overboard here. Julia Louis Dreyfus’ family is worth billions but she still chose to work for a living. She probably made at least 100 mill from Seinfeld, why don’t you go harass her about giving her money away. Or maybe she should have volunteered to work for free. I’m sure she has endorsements as well, many actors do.

She did work for free and donated all of her proceeds to charity

I know it's ridiculous. Anderson Cooper is the son of a Vanderbilt and hes been a news dude his whole life. People are being really really stupid.

Many of you who rant and rave about these two ladies understand there are billions of people across the globe who dont even get the chance at sports that an average European or American gets right? Like so many of you are obsessed with this crap. Most of these tennis players wouldn't be tennis players if they were born in sub saharan Africa or Bangladesh or Equador. They all have advantages by being born in whatever particular place. Some more than others but compared to most of the world they all have been lucky.

Lendl was very funny from the time he got off the boat but this has been discussed ad nauseam. Like the recent thread about the importance of Connors. Same topics over and over at TTW, for decades.

This board is getting grim. @sudafacan can barely be bothered to certify a thread any longer. @ vive le beau jeu ! doesn’t seem like his heart has been into it since Vamos de facto retired in 2022. If it wasn’t for my fav Raul (aka BCR) entering threads to spread joy this place would be even more grim.

Also having a sponsor has benefits outside of money. Getting access to all the clothes, strings and rackets is probably easier than having to buy.
Sponsors sometimes help with tournament arrangements as well.

Also if we are saying no sponsors for the rich, shouldn't the top 20 after 5 years on tour stop getting money then?

Who cares who her parents are. J L-D is ridiculously talented, hard working, beautiful and very funny. She’s like the Dr Raul of Hollywood.

Ironically Seinfeld was the least funny character on Seinfeld, by quite a bit imo. JLD's facial expressions are out of this world. :-D

Never actually played the game, have we?

Or even been to more than a couple of tennis matches, I would assume.
