Have you ever tried getting your wrist in a position where you can "see the back of your wrist" instead of your palm?

Look at the video called "Pronation on the serve. Maybe that's the problem"

This is "looking at your wrist watch" (if you wear the watch on your dominant arm).

Exactly!!! That's how Jim teaches it, but I couldn't find that video.

But I thought @Digital Atheist had a pretty decent looking motion. But I just wonder what happens when he follows through looking at the palm instead of looking at the wristwatch. It just seems to me like you'd get horribly jammed. I have a hard time doing it myself since looking at my wristwatch is so ingrained in my motion. I always try to see if I can get into that Pete Sampras position, where I'm looking at the wristwatch at (or even above) eye level. Which is hard. Normally, even the pros don't do it. But Pete always did. I find those photos of Pete pretty amazing.

That might also help him put the toss in the right place, since right now I think it's too far behind him and that's partly why he can only hit up and across, and not up and forward (he also stays way too sideways for the entire motion).

Thanks! Apparently that's due to his super fast completion of ISR. Roddick and Raonic are similar (unsurprisingly) but most are more like Federer and that's OK too!

Started doing the Sampras "walk forward" serve warmup and holy cow I think I can get 75-80% of the power I currently have. The rotation of the torso and then shoulders towards the net just feels better. I tried adding a leg drive but still find myself "refusing" to get that same feeling of effortless turning into the court.

I'll take some videos and then slowly start trying to make sure I'm getting that same rotation
