Serving and tennis elbow!

Rookie
I can get good topspin and kick when I serve but what I tend to do is have a lower toss over my head and I hit with a bent arm and brush up the back of the ball. The problem is that this aggrivates my tennis elbow. I am guessing that's why my tennis elbow hurts is because I am making contact with a bent arm which is hard on the elbow.

Does anyone know for sure that hitting making contact with a bent arm is hard on tennis elbow?

Thanks

Yes, the arm should be fully stretched (at elbow) at contact, independent on the type of serve.

Eliminate that motion.

Hi Marius

Thanks for your quick reply. Marius, I also put a similar post under the instruction section but can you explain how you can get kick/topspin by making contact with a straight arm? I can do it easily when I brush up the back of the ball with a bent arm but beacuse of the stress on my elbow and like you mentioned I have to eliminate that motion. So I can't see how you do it with a straight arm. Can you explain that for me?

Thanks

Thanks all for the advice and replies. I will have to go out there and work on it. My method of bending my elbow got me alot of kick and topspin but it does me no good if I can't even play tennis because of tennis elbow. I used to think that my tennis elbow was all due to my one handed backhand but I think I made all of the necessary technique corrections. I never even gave my serve to much thought in regards to it as it never hurt when I did the motion.

Thanks again
