Trade Basel for Paris and I think it's a smart schedule. Wasn't expecting to see Rotterdam again but there's so much time in that post-AO gap that I think he'll be ok.

Looks OK to me. There will probaly be a warm-up tournament (or at least exhibitional or international matches) leading to the AO.

I think, that he will not play Miami at all. Also, I suspect, that he will tank in Rome, unless he has a real chance to win it (excellent form and some of the other favourites going out or having problems with their games).

That's what I thought. I saw the thread title and I thought "Why would someone care about Straponek's schedule?"

Federer would need some serious plastic surgery to get that nickname.

Nadal is worried about Xisca. One good reason, no?

And I am not going to comment on your remark about Sexi. The punishment will come swiftly in the form of stopped deliveries of Lindt 95% in your part of the world.

Why is Roger being called SEXI? Don't think so. None of the players are in my eyes. Nobody in the world gets that nickname from me. Dumb term.

Nadal is the only player with that reputation because of his video with Shakira and the Giorgio Armani ads. Imagine federer trying to do that...lol, they wouldn't let him.

I must be the only person who doesn't think that Rafa looks sexy in those things mentioned above. I think Rafa looks nice on/off the court being himself.

Miami would've been a good chance for him to gain points. Then again, who knows with a surface that slow.

If I were him I would enter, wait for the draw, then make a decision afterwards just like in Paris. ;)

No you're not. I think he looked silly and awkward in that video and in those Armani photos. Nadal does look better when he is just being himself and isn't forced to be sexy.

And this is a good schedule for Roger. Nadal could take a lesson from Fed on how to properly schedule yourself so you don't wear your knees down to nubs.

I would be surprised to see him miss Miami, Nike usually has a big deal there, and he has plenty of rest after.

I've never been able to judge male appearance. But majority of females claim Rafa is the bomb.

In Armani's ads Nadal looks like a Boy George's friend.

On the other hand, Federer's sexiness comes from his inherent qualities as a person and a tennis player.

What a stupid question to ask!

QFT.

For reference, see almost the entire *************.
He has metrosexual appeal, though.
See my remark about his Armani ads.

Am female but I don't find Rafa attractive in those situations, I don't follow the female trend. I like Rafa sweating on the court with his match face and the Rafa brow in press conferences and all the frowning :). That is how I like Rafa without the airbrushing and make up. And trying so hard to be sexy! He has a natural ability with that without trying in my eyes. I like Rafa with his real face: lines, scruffy hair, unshaven and his cute freckles! :)

Federer is known for having a big odd shaped nose, crying a lot, and saying pathetic toolish things in interviews.

Well, Nadal is known for appearing on a tennis court, so I think most of the adulation began from his appearance on the tennis court. But a lot of people also talk about his "Gypsy" video with Shakira. Whereas I've never heard much talk regarding his GA ad, except for the week of its release.

Good, I see Rafa as a tennis player, not some dumb advert for sexy.

Well the schedule makes sense.

He's got his exhos in the winter so it'll be good for him to rest and practice bit before the AO. Conditions in Doha aren't that similar to the AO anyway.

Rotterdam was already confirmed during this summer.

Dubai has fast courts, plus he trains there.

Nothing much to defend in Miami, which is probably why he chose to skip it, have a larger training block for the clay season instead.

Skipping Basel is good, there's no point really playing 3 tournaments in a row.

Some fan made that nickname early in his career in the stands. He had a poster called "Lets go Sexi Rogi" or something like that! and now that name has caught on. Plus federer does play sexi tennis!!!

I think we'll see him drop one or both of Dubai and Rotterdam. He's already only playing 14 (15 if you count the WTF), so it's good to see him cutting down his schedule significantly.

I think skipping Miami makes sense. The last hard court tournament before the clay court season adds no value. Skipping both MIA and MC gives him time to prep for the FO & Wimby stretch.

But I also see political reasons why he might be skipping Miami. Miami is run by IMG and having broken up with them, I think there is no love lost. Also, its Miami that put the kaibosh on the prize money increase that IW owner Ellison was willing to give to the earlier rounds. Heard that Roger was pretty upset with that decision esp given ATP Chairmain Brad Drewitt notedly abstained from voting thus giving Miami the chance to squash the offer.

No warm-up for AO as well?

I've said this before - I don't think Roger gives himself a realistic chance at the AO anymore. His attacking game suits faster hard courts and he focuses more on the Wimbledon to USO stretch from here on out if you ask me.

Stay on topic kids :)

FWIW, i think Bercy is also a stretch. He'll definitely play Shanghai (they're big on the appearance fee I believe), but if he qualifies for the wtf (very little chance he won't), then Bercy makes no sense being so close to the wtf on the calendar.

Roger's masters is also a backup. No way Roger plays it if he makes it to Finals or better at Wimby.

What does Canada have to do with Wimbledon? It`s like a month after that. There is no Olympics so i don`t see him skipping it.
Regarding the schedule,he can also make changes during the season. For instance if he doesn`t do well in IW i doubt he will take a break till Madrid

Nice to see Roger taking advantage of the veterans rule to drop MS-1000 events. Especially skipping Miami/Monaco gives him a lot of weeks in a row to rest up and train for the clay season.

Fed probably promised Forget he will put Bercy on his schedule since he skipped it this year.

It's only a schedule and he'll probably skip some more tournaments depending on his results and physical condition.

Australian Open is definitely no longer his priority. With the slowness of those courts and his age I would put him as the fourth favorite for that tournament. He would have an oftly hard time beating Djokovic and Nadal over 5 sets on courts that slow.

I disagree, in the last three years Federer had the best results at the Australian Open, compared to other GS tournaments.

I'm pretty sure that he will be playing in Miami and will probably skip Rotterdam.

I think he's got a contract with Rotterdam. Whether he has it or not they have confirmed it, they even had a video showing Fed and the tournament director talking about it. It's good preparation for him anyway for IW.

He can always just get a wildcard for the Masters I think. Skipping Miami won't hurt at all since he only has 45 points to defend there, plus Fed's record at Miami hasn't been good lately. Better to prepare for the clay season considering this year it was mediocre for him.

The schedule should be fine for him. The points for Doha, Miami, Olympics and Basel add up to 885, he should be playing Toronto this year and can easily make up for the loss points. Plus don't forget his USO QF is another potential spot to gain points. We all know that Fed wouldn't have jumped from #3 to #1 overnight if his 2011 Wimbly result was SF instead of QF.

Rogers and Cincinnatti are back to back. I don't think he'll do both say if he wins Wimby again. Cincinatti with its fast courts is a better prep for the USO for him whereas even in his prime years he lost to upcoming guys like Gasquet and Djoko in Canada.
