Shallow tread depth on new Nike and Adidas shoes

Has anyone else noticed the extremely shallow tread depth on some of the new Nike and Adidas shoes? I've noticed it's mostly on their durable shoes with outsold guarantees. For example comparing the tread of the Barricade 5 or 7 to the Barricade 8 was a joke, plus there was no traction. Also with Nike their new Zoom Cage, Zoom Cage 2, and the Lunar Ballistec the tread depth is a joke, and from my experience with the Zoom Cage, the traction is an absolute JOKE. I wish the manufacturers would go back to making shoes with real traction and tread so they would still be wearable all the way up till the rubber gets worn through as opposed to making their customers have to play on bald rubber just to take advantage of the outsoles warranty.

Shallower tread makes the shoes last longer. It makes sense they would give up traction for a shoe that lasts longer, especially the 6 month durability guarantees.

That makes no sense. Shallower tread shortens the useful life of the shoe. Also in a performance shoe I don't think very many people would trade traction for durability. I'd prefer to have solid footing and not get injured
